Musk using eco-anxiety to dragoon workers into a crunch pattern, all to ship a product he hopes persuades skeptics he isn't piloting toward an iceberg. But I think the story is all but written. It's already more interesting to see crowds declaring paid verification has no value.
Whether he can sell "verification" (soon to be misnomer) to his fanbase is a different story. But if enough currently verified people blow it off — and there's already social pressure to do so (see also: "dweebs") — it'll be interesting to see if abstaining confers more clout.
trying to turn something that's perceived as a status symbol (it is) into something easily obtainable (and ridding it of any actual utility in the process) risks negating why people covet it in the first place. w/o some other perk users will stop paying after the allure wears off

Pelosi attacker is a Trump supporter who watches Tim Pool, reads Ben Shapiro, and revels in Kanye’s attack on Jews. He’s a Q adherent who believes white Americans are oppressed and under attack — a conspiracy mainstreamed by Fox News and YouTube.
These people used to be radicalized on fringe sites most people never see. Now it’s Google & network TV.

Kanye didn't get "cancelled." Why are you putting his sh*t on everyone else? Nobody did anything to him. He did things to himself. We were all just going about our business trying to escape being bombarded by it every minute of the day.

Opening hate/misinfo floodgates will wreck advertising. Misinfo got so bad on FB during covid it COULDN'T GIVE FREE AD SPACE AWAY. Ads became totally counterproductive. The replies were all bile. Think Nike wants to deal w/ a racist flood every time it signs a Black athlete? Image

Homeland Security agents "scrambled" to Best Buy in 2020 to get laptops for new recruits with "barely any form of training," meeting up in a "parking lot" to begin work creating spy files on Americans protesting George Floyd's murder. Image
DHS is a national police intelligence agency Congress spent a trillion dollars to create. And it tried to help sway an election by labeling political opponents terrorists so it could spy on anyone for attending a protest. It is a national security threat.

translation: the head of DHS wanted intel officials to build spy files on anyone protesting in Portland, including lists of friends & followers "as well as their interests." Were advised they could only do dossiers on people arrested, as they'd done "thousands of times before" Image
