'Engineer' Jamesha Mubin was seen loading an LPG cylinder onto his Maruti 800 car.

Mohammad Riyaz, Feroz Ismail, and Mohammad Navaz Ismail were seen helping out Mubin in CCTV footage.

Time: 4am

Mubin's car explodes mid-journey in the Ukkadam area near Kottai Easwaran Temple.

His body was unrecognisable. Preliminary probe revealed that one of the 2 cylinders onboard the car had exploded.

5 people were arrested - Mohammad Thalka, Mohammad Azarudheen, Riyaz, Nawaz and Feroz (the last 3 individuals had helped Mubin with the LPG cylinder).

All were charged under CrPC Section 174 & Section 3A of the Explosive Substances Act.

On the same day, the police raided the house of Mubin & recovered 75kg of chemical materials, including charcoal, potassium nitrate, sulphur and aluminium powder.

Charges against the accused were altered to IPC Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) & 153 A (promoting enmity between two different groups).

They were also booked under UAPA & remanded to judicial custody.

Identified as Afsar Khan, he played a crucial role in helping Mubin procure explosive substances from e-commerce platforms.

Moreover, the Coimbatore blast case is transferred to NIA.
