Volatility getting compressed. Action should start once we start trading outside the triangle being formed

Unless you are extremely fast, DON"T TRY THIS at home :)

Now go and see the #patternz on BNF 1-min charts Image
Again Image
Here's the whole charts. Remember what I said about #control bars.

Again, DO NOT TRY 1-MIN charts unless you have very fast execution skills. I am using an external keyboard, I don't need to see the keyboard to punch orders Image

As a European, I'm getting increasingly tired of American influence, from media, politics, work & lifestyle etc. It is overwhelming how much input is coming from US when it doesn't relate to my experience / life / context day to day.
At this moment there is no way to filter it.
Imagine if Americans mostly received the news, opinions, entertainment, music & such from let's say French, about France and French experiences. No matter what channel you entered, media format, or room.
I say this as someone who lived, worked & studied in the States. I know quite a bit about life there & would even say share major cultural connections from early age. But at the same time it is stripping me from having autonomy over my own identity.

Since pretty much everyone under quarantine has to use digitized primary sources, I thought it might be useful to point to #digitalarchives that *explicitly* acknowledge & caution users abt #archivalsilences in their contents, and describe their work to rectify them.

A thread.
1/ A note: Most people appreciate the easiness of online access to archival material, but tend to forget that all #digitization is selective.
2/ This means that what you see online is usually not “everything” that an institution holds abt a topic. It's important to understand the digitized together w the physical. Even if you can't access physical records now, you'll be able to better contextualize what you see online.

My previous threads on #qualitative #interviewing referred mainly to one-to-one, semi-structured interviews. Research interviews, however, can be conducted in more than one way. #1 @AcademicChatter #phdchat #QualitativeResearch
@AcademicChatter In this thread, some different ways to conduct interviews are discussed, so have a look and see whether a different format could help answer your research question better. #2
@AcademicChatter The social research literature categorises research interviews roughly into #structured, semi-structured, and unstructured interviews based on the degree of #planning or preparation from the interviewer’s side and the #leeway available for participants in their responses. #3

SOMETHING TO WATCH: $SDY may be forced to sell 22% of Tanger Factory Outlet's (SKT) total shares outstanding in one shot at the end of the month in the ann reconstitution since the stock's market cap fell below the $1.5b eligibility req on the ref date..
How did one ETF get to own 22% of one company? Low rates attracted investors to the $20b ETF, which (this is key) weights by yield, giving Tanger's high yield an unusually large weighting for such a small stock. Mewnwhile, active players have been selling the stock bc Amazon.
This gets messier bc $SKT currently has a record 57% of its shares shorted rn. Is likely State State was caught by surprise a little and may have lent shares out it will have to call back soon in order to do reconstitution. Maybe they will buy SKT to minimize impact not sure tho

As we reflect on 2019 and decide on our research directions for 2020, here's a summary of my recent reading. The #context tag tells you *why* I ended up there (thx to @julianharris for the tag suggestion ;)). I'm curious to know what other people's journeys have been this year...
Reading list (1) Language evolution papers. #context I am still trying to figure out what exactly language is for. We've seen some cool work on meaning shift in the last years. But *why* do meanings shift? And what does it tell us about the role of language in human behaviour?
Reading list (2) Papers on aligning vector spaces. #context the whole "let's average the utterance of thousands of speakers in a big corpus and pretend it's language" is rather tedious. My semantic space in not your semantic space. But how best to measure such differences?

Loving the workshop on context and compositionality. Opportunity to ask a question that has troubled me for some time: what is compositionality? Weak variant "the parts of the input affect meaning of whole". Trivially true even of e.g the pixels in an image. 1/...
Strong variant "the parts of the input entirely determine the meaning of whole". Trivially false (unless mathematics / formal logic / model theory) because of #context and #memory. So what's left? 2/2

Thread on the houses of Oak Park because the town isn't just Frank Lloyd Wright. There's some interesting architecture worth checking out. I'm gonna start with this 1929 Storybook-influenced home because who doesn't love a good turret?
The Charles H. Reeves House (1905) is an Arts & Crafts-style design by architects Lawrence Buck & Vernon Watson. I've been inside this one and it's absolutely gorgeous! It was included in the October 1908 issue of House Beautiful and the May 1909 issue of Ladies Home General.
Part of Oak Park's Gunderson Historic District, this craftsman style bungalow was constructed by developer Allen Gerberich & builder William A. Pillinger in 1917 when the south side of OP (back then just open prairie) was being developed & sold to people moving out of Chicago.

1. I'm on a long road trip & came across with #Ethiopia|'s 'home grown economic reform agenda' doc & tried to chew it but unable to swallow it neither as major economic reform nor as 'home grown economic reform'.
2. Without being bogged on how or what it is called, I will try to put my personal take & feedback on the the fundamental issues/flaws realted to to this reform. I remember a yr ago I've indicated what I think regarding major economic reforms should be undertaken in #Ethiopia.
3. General observation:
a) to certain degree it succeed to pin point some of structural constraints (still not the root causes)
b) it simplifies the complex economic issues and proposes simplistic reforms (it is like treating the fever without diagnosing the chronic infection)

This #archaeology thread is about #context – where we find our artifacts – and why that matters

I’ll start w/ the 1st site I ever dug at, the cave of Fontéchevade in France, and then I’ll look at the ancient trade in painted ceramics from Athens (*CW: graphic ancient sex)
Fontéchevade was found in the late 19th century and dug by a series of “educated amateurs” whose goal was “to procure collectible items.” Some were sold, others went to museums, but info on where most collectible items from this period of archaeology came from was scarce
Germaine Henri-Martin started systematic excavations in 1937

Originally a violinist, she became an archaeologist to keep her father’s lab and legacy alive. She biked many kilometers to the cave. She was clearly a real badass

Interesting things afoot in political attitudes in N.Ireland.

The majority of people say they are #Neither Unionist nor Nationalist.
This has risen from 1/3 to ½ since 1998.

Here's a thread summarising my paper at the ‘constitutional futures’ conference @ucddublin today.
'Neithers' are likely to have a mix of both British & Irish identities.

This compares to ½ Unionists having exclusively British identities & 72% of Nationalists exclusively Irish identities.

So some 'Neithers' are only British, some only Irish & some ‘other’, i.e. mixed!
This slide shows we can’t read directly across from a #Neither identification to a particular view on NI’s constitutional status.

The majority say they'd vote to remain in the UK but also - notably - ¼ would not vote at all in a border poll.

Long ramps connect the terraces to one another and are punctuated with porticos.

The #stabbings in #Germany continue (deadly ones are but the tip of the iceberg): a 19-year old #German man was mortally stabbed (in the back) in the #PrenzlauerBerg-district of #Berlin on 2019-02-09. By, the perpetrator shouted "Hurensöhne"
.. shortly before the incident. If is to be believed, the victim did not answer the perpetrator's #provocations, rather tried to flee.

Relevant #context: and…. It is not clear what "dunkler Teint" means.
A telling piece of (dark!) satire which I found in the comments of…:

Buhari did not order Deji’s Arrest. Even the IGP or Force PRO did not know he was arrested until briefed later. We were informed later and we engaged. Police complied & the court granted him bail. #FactCheck
Bail conditions couldn’t be arranged because of time. A level 14 civil servant who must come with a letter from his employer - FCT jurisdiction; and a businessman within the court's jurisdiction.) so this will be sorted tomorrow morning. Keep you updated.
We will jump through hoops to make the impossible happen and expect fair play by the authorities. The Magistrate should make a believer of the People by ensuring he is available to sign the papers for his release tomorrow. @PoliceNG @NPFSpokesPerson should make sure of this.

This is how I know there is more to this story than is being shared.

CPL is trying to use this situation to attack @realDonaldTrump.

It's even deeper than I thought.

This is the same force behind #SpyGate & coup attempt.

They are really panicking.

1/ Tweetstorm a comin' cuz @IvyBGrey really likes it when I "have a conversation with an article." First of all, super 💯 helpful and useful breakdown of varying #innovation approaches, so everyone trying to do all the innovation things, please read the article, like now thanks.
2/ Is "incremental" a dirty word? No. But to most people it #feels less exciting & flashy than "#disruptive." Yes, I said #feels. Bc most ppl probably will not read Ivy's excellent article or this tweetstorm bc they're not on Twitter. To them all this sounds/#feels like jargon.
