A Limpopo-based independent economist Rendani Tshishonga says government needs to relook their policies on suspension of #PublicServants as a way of cutting costs.NM
This after the acting minister of public service and administration Thulas Nxesi told parliament that as of June, it cost taxpayers more than R130 million to pay salaries of 305 suspended civil servants, including 57 senior managers who are idling at home. #PublicServants NM
Nxesi said Mpumalanga pays R2.8 million in salaries to 26 officials while Limpopo has not yet released its specified amount for its nine suspended officials.#PublicServants NM
Tshishonga says government needs to invest in ways that will speed up processes that deal with suspension of employees to avoid paying double salaries in some instances where they must get someone to act on the same position. #PublicServants NM
He also says putting employees on full-pay suspension does not affect the department’s budget but also hinders service delivery and production. #PublicServants NM
