14.34 - Order of Business
It’s that moment where TDs usually complain about the rest of the week’s agenda! Followed by party leaders and ten other TDs getting to ask questions about current, forthcoming or potential plans for Govt to address matters of concern.
15.04 - Motions without Debate
Three pieces of housekeeping which will be passed without any debate - one on how public bodies comply with data regulations; one on the rota for ministerial questions; one reassigning TDs between Dáil committees.
15.05 - Statements on Creeslough
A month on from the tragedy in Donegal, leaders and representatives from each of the Dáil’s ten groups will have ten minutes each to reflect on the deaths of ten people.
(Were he not abroad, this would usually be time for Taoiseach’s Questions)
16.45 - Government Business
The first debate on the Credit Guarantee (Amendment) Bill 2022, which intends to help SMEs to access low-cost loans to help them overcome the challenges posed by the war in Ukraine (gov.ie/en/press-relea…).
18:12 - Private Members’ Business
‘Private’ business is anything not being proposed by the government (which is ‘public’). This slot falls to SF who have tabled a motion condemning shortcomings in home care, and its impact on delayed hospital discharges.
20:12 - Ministerial Questions
Ministers appear by rota for 90 minutes of questioning on presubmitted questions about their brief. Tonight it’s Eamon Ryan in his capacity as Minister for Environment, with questions on COP27 and climate action (data.oireachtas.ie/ie/oireachtas/…).
21:42 - Topical Issues
Up to four issues of the day are raised by opposition or backbench TDs, with ministers (or someone else sent in their place) answering them. The topics are chosen by lottery by the Ceann Comhairle and usually indicated in the middle of the day.
22:30 - Closing time, until the next batch of Topical Issues at 9:30 tomorrow.

10:00 - Private Members' Business
Time allocated to opposition groups to raise whatever they like. This morning it's the Regional Group of independents, with a @DenisNaughten-led motion about services to address Long Covid.
Joe McHugh solidifying his status outside the Government - he's also voting in favour of opposition amendments to the Mica bill too
Government's only external supporters there were Messrs Lowry and Grealish
The two Green TDs currently suspended from the parliamentary party - one of whom had publicly pledged to continue supporting the Govt from outside, so as to ease his return to the fold later - have been absent for this evening's Mica votes
Although only two are of Cabinet grade, the rump of Tory MPs who now don't back Boris Johnson is so large that he may soon find it tough to fill the bottom-of-the-ladder Government roles.
Hugely sensitive timing - Johnson has spent the day trying to calm his uneasy backbenchers, including being seen in the Commons tea rooms, and had given a clip to the 6pm TV news bulletins. Now because of Wimbledon the clip won’t air on BBC until after Javid’s announcement
“The vote of confidence last month … was a moment for humility, grip and new direction. I regret to say, however, that it is clear to me that this situation will not change under your leadership - and you have therefore lost my confidence too.”
Slightly earlier than expected, the weekly row over the Dáil schedule - some grievance about how little time is available to debate possible amendments to the defective blocks (#micaredress) legislation - is it to avoid scrutiny, or necessary to get it passed before the recess?
Should be noted that many of the TDs who routinely demand Dáil time for ‘statements on X’ are also now complaining that there is too little time for legislating - though should also be noted that some bills (e.g. mica) are being published by various Govt departments late in term
Dáil schedule approved 66-60 - which is in itself an acid test of government support in the house, given the curtailed timetable for mica bill is a source of real grievance. Given unity of opposition, and financial stakes of bill, SF calling a repeat of the vote by walk-through
