#GuruNanakJayanti
Much to doubt if Guru was born in Kattak not Baisakh.
But for me Q of date is trivial —crucial are teachings.
I'd like to dedicate today's celebrations to community, which has best preserved served Nanakpanth despite all the displacement disparagement: #Sindhis!
These pictures sent to me are from the private collection of reputed European ethnographer.
This is how Sindhis, one of the most prosperous and earliest merchant immigrants out of India, still practice their faith to the day.
Above L of Guru Nanak, you see murti of Radha-Krishna.
Don't ask me for location of GuruMandir/Dharmsaal (that's how Sikh spiritual centers were called until early 20th century)
Faced with disruptions/threats by Jattwadis of Bhindranwale, Sindhis practice syncretic Nanakpanthi tradition far from attention/promotion, almost in hiding.
Above: front and top above the Granths, they have images of #Sikh Gurus.
To Right you see partial image of Durga Ma. Further Right, there were idols of Siva, Pravati, Ganesha & Nandi too but don't have a pic.
To Left, murtis of Rama, Sita, Hanuman that you can more focused here.
This is essentially how our ancestors practiced faith too. Which today's SGPC would call blasphemous & protect/celebrate whichever lunatic eliminated them. This is legacy of SinghSabha/VirSingh/KahnSinghNabha, which was indeed perperated on 1000s of H & insufficient/patriotic Ss.
In temple you also find the murti of Jhule Lal, an incarnation of Varuna.
Here shown seated on Pala fish but at other places also on Makara.
Local Muslims also worship him as Zinda Pir or Khwaja Khizr.
Jhulelal & Baba Guru Nanak are arguably two most important deities of Sindhis.
Finally you see 4 books placed reverentially platform?
Above it are portraits of 9 succeeding Sikh Gurus.
Can you guess what are these 4 books? You have 1 week to try!
PS: If you can't stand Jattwad but can't forsake Gurbani either, seek nearest Sindhi Tikano and stay connected.
NONSENSE!
There was nothing like #BandiChorrDivas. You engineered it to further divide Hindu & Sikhs for your cynical politics —not caring damn about what’ll be the spiritual costs of weaning Sikhs from their roots and larger culture and festivities.
Here’s handwritten letter by Guru Tegh Bahadur, asking the congregation of Pak Pattan to visit him for DIWALI!
He was the son of Guru Hargobind. So you know, but 9th Guru didn’t, that there was some Bandi Chorr Divas regarding his father. Really?!
Then here’s letter by Guru Hargobind’s grandson, Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself. Dated 5 Oct 1699, or AFTER formation of Khalsa.
He too is asking congregation of Naushera Pannuan to visit him for DIWALI 🪔. NOT some #BandiChorrDivas. You know better than Dashmesh Pita, again?
1000 RTs and I’d create a short thread on Durga Ma & her devotee Guru Gobind Singh that will leave SGPC McSikhs & Khalistanis no place to hide.
जय माता दी!
Olrite let's go!
In comments to OP many mentioned Guru's autobiography Bachittar Natak where he speaks of doing tapasya in previous birth to Kalika at Hemkunt, and of his famous composition Chandi di Vaar (or Vaar Durga Ji Ki) ie Ballad to War Goddess.
So I'd share other sources.
Actually Shakta influence takes hold in Sikhism, not from GuruGobind but as soon as the first Sikh Guru, Arjan Dev Ji, is martyred. Here is the sword of his son and 6th Guru, HargobindJi, who was GuruGobind's grandfather.
Etched on blade his is name in Persian & image of #MaKali.
How British and its toadies engineered #Hindu-#Sikh separation.
Here's just one example of SHOCKING SHAMELESS frauds committed by the most important and inluential of SinghSabha/#SGPC "scholar", #BhaiVirSingh, whom GoI has honored with Sahitya Academy & Padma Bhushan awards too.
SriGurPanthPrakash (popularly known as PrachinPanthPrakash) is one the most imp Sikh historical documents. In words of very imp scholar DrGandaSingh, had it not been for its author: "eighteenth century history of the Sikhs would have largely remained mostly a matter of surmise".
And VirSingh, minion of MacAullife, is father of modern #Sikh identity. To become designated Sikh preacher today one has to read and rely for reference texts edited by VirSingh. Excuse sacrilege, but he's their Shankaracharya so to say.
So what did VirSingh do with PanthPrakash?
I❤️Guru Gobind but jahalat of Khalistanis is shocking.
-Aurangzeb became emperor in 1658 aged 40.
-Maratha resistance began shortly thereafter. He built BadshahiMosque when he thought he had vanquished Shivaji. This (not TajMahal) was grandest Muslim monument for 2 centuries! 1/n
-When was Guru Tegh Bahadur killed? 1675. That is, two years after completion of Badshahi Masjid. Read Aurangzeb's own words who Shivaji was his greatest/bravest foe!
-When did Guru Gobind form Khalsa? 1699! When Aurangzeb was 80+
-Aurangzeb fought no direct battle with Guru.
2/n
-But Aurangzeb moved his entire court & army to Deccan to finish off Marathas. Fought them for 27yrs! till he bankrupted his kingdom and died, leading to collapse of Mughals.
-Guru fought one major battle in Chamkaur, where the province of Sirhind had sent forces against him.
