7 votes block confirming @NIH rTBI/CTE causation statement. 6 voters are seriously conflicted as CMO's & or paid consultants to NHL, NCAA, MLS, AFL & World Rugby. All facing active/potential CTE lawsuits from former players. How's the CISG CTE vote considered anything but a joke?
A separate 7 or so of the 29 receive 6 or 7 figure funding from those & other groups (NFL) for research on long-term effects. Most if not all are wonderful people who you'd like if you met, but COI's impact even the nicest, most ethical people.
Consider that the NCAA is literally in court in California battling the Matt Gee CTE lawsuit. If it got out their CMO backed causation, what happens next? Is he fired? Do they lose the lawsuit? Anyone know if he was recused from the vote? axios.com/2022/10/24/nca…
The NHL is facing a new lawsuit from the family of Steve Montador, who was diagnosed with #CTE. Did they vote to say hockey caused his CTE? tsn.ca/father-of-stev…
Here is the lawsuit by more than 100 former players against World Rugby. Did they vote to say rugby can cause CTE? theguardian.com/sport/2022/jul…
Lawsuits are being considered against the Australian Football League. Did they vote to say that that AFL play caused the CTE the Australian Sports Brain Bank has identified in former players? abc.net.au/melbourne/prog…
The Concussion in Sport Group's prior 2013 and 2017 statements denying sports causes CTE have been used by some of these groups in the press or in the courts to discourage or defend lawsuits. It is absurd that anyone considers their opinion on CTE to be legitimate.

I'm shocked @WorldRugby gave (& continues to give) their platform to a neuropath to claim in the video below that @annmckeemd is mistaking Alzheimer's for #CTE. That's not even sophisticated gaslighting - it'd be laughable it wasn't so unbelievably sad (for Rudy & @WorldRugby)
Dr. McKee was 1st an expert in AD before she was the lead author of the NINDS consensus diagnostic criteria for CTE. The @nytimes article was based on a peer-reviewed publication in the prestigious @JAMA_current.
You're letting this guy try to undercut her credibility like that?
Paul McCrory, former CISG head propped up by the sports industry as a #CTE & #concussion expert, has 9 more papers RETRACTED, including 1 for lying about critical historical concussion guidelines. He's led efforts to say sports aren't the cause of #CTE.🤬medpagetoday.com/neurology/head…
The #NFL proudly gave McCrory and his #CTE denier buddies $$$$$ to study jockeys under the laughably ridiculous premise that jockey head impact exposure is similar to NFL players, so if jockeys don't have CTE, NFL CTE is not from playing football. espn.com/espn/otl/story…
Here is a direct quote from McCrory worth reading. Imagine why this study is being funded by sports leagues... so Big Tobacco.
LISTEN: Donald Parham Jr. is at the hospital with a brain/spine injury. Joe Buck says he'd never speculate on an injury, then speculates DP's arm tremors were bc "it's cold tonight, at least by Los Angeles standards."
Ladies and gents, meet rock bottom for sports broadcasting.
Context: @ConcussionLF has only #concussion education program for sports media. Taught at 20 universities. We've offered to train football broadcasters for free. Turned down bc #NFL provides their own training on concussions. Lesson 1: Don't say the c word concussionfoundation.org/programs/media…
The coverage of #DonaldParhamJr’s brain injury last night was unacceptable.
We created the @ConcussionLF Media Project to train sports media how to cover #concussions accurately and responsibly.
(1/7) If your child has a #concussion, do you trust their coach will do the right thing? Are you sure?
This secretly recorded shock video shows @bentoncardinals girls' HS basketball coach threatening a player who reported concussion symptoms to her athletic trainer.
Watch:
(2/7) Coach Kerstyn Bolton threatened her player with the "worst 30 minutes of her life" in practice because the player did the right thing and reported her symptoms.
(3/7) Bolton compared her own THIGH INJURY (!!) to her player's potential brain injury, calls the player selfish for not pushing through, and even praised a teammate who played through a past concussion.
I have serious questions surrounding the medical care of Michigan State QB Brian Lewerke & his apparent concussion in the Illinois game last week. Based on the player’s self-report, I believe Lewerke should be diagnosed with a concussion. Thread 👇freep.com/story/sports/c…
Disclosure: MSU invited me to lecture on concussions & CTE last year, & I have a tremendous amount of respect for the medical team. But I feel the need to speak up as I believe public statements are setting the wrong example for youth sports on concussion recognition & response.
Video: Watch MSU QB Brian Lewerke run left and strike his head on an opponent's knee. He is clearly slow to get up, and his teammate immediately waived to the sideline, presumably for medical help.
He stayed in the game. The next play he threw a bad interception.
