@ScottishFA lying about VAR already. A thread. 1/ “Hawk-Eye technology is designed to calibrate an accurate offside frm either of the 2 18-yard line camera positions, with the subsequent VAR review determining that the Celtic player had received the ball in an offside position"
2/ Let's examine that explanation. Hawk-Eye technology provides an indication of a a players point on contact with the ball. Not what position they are in. That's down to the VAR, and is why we have cameras. From the EPL guidelines "Hawk-Eye can also use any broadcast camera...
3/ ...to identify the point of contact with the ball by the attacker, and synchronises all cameras for this purpose." Also "Hawk-Eye calibrates multiple cameras to give many options when showing an offside decision in the event that a body part is covered in one camera."
4/ The point is that HawkEye DOES NOT calculate offside decisions. The VAR needs to do that using the available camera angles and information from HawkEye. It is a MANUAL process. "The positioning of the crosshair is manual, with a line one-pixel wide, so that the exact...
5/ ...position of the offside line and the relevant body part can be accurately identified by the VAR."
So @ScottishFA saying "Hawk-Eye technology is designed to calibrate an accurate offside decision from either of the two 18-yard line camera positions" is a complete...
6/ ... red herring. HawkEye can tell you "when" a player touches the ball. Not where they are in relation to other players. That's a manual process, that needs the BEST CAMERA ANGLE to determine it, not an angle from the moon. Finally,
7/.. at the end of the day, it was a mistake and @ScottishFA need to learn from it. The problem @CelticFC fans have is that no-one will admit an error, no-one will learn from it, no improvements will be made, and no apology given. The explanation from the SFA stinks, reeks of...
8/... corruption and incompetence, and shows a stunning lack of transparency and arrogance. Same old story with this pathetic organisation, and nothing ever changes. #celtic#jota#VAR
