How do you know if you have #Dysautonomia/#POTS?
1/6 Dysautonomia/POTS is a common concomitant condition in complex #chronicillness. Normally our #autonomicnervoussystem (#ANS) responds to changes in position from lying or sitting to standing.
2/6 Often in chronic illness, the autonomic nervous system does not work properly and a change in position causes the heart rate to increase to compensate for low blood vessel tone (POTS) or the blood pressure decreases upon standing (#orthostatichypotension).
3/6 The NASA Lean test is an excellent point of care exam that can be performed at any doctor’s office or at home. The blood pressure and heart rate are taken while lying.
4/6 The patient then stands with shoulder blades against the wall and heels 6 inches away from the wall, and the blood pressure and heart rate are taken every minute for 10 minutes.
5/6 A rise in the heart rate over 30 beats per minute from baseline to any standing at any time or an average of 120 beats per minute the last 3 minutes of standing confirms POTS.
6/6 A decrease in systolic blood pressure (the upper number) >20 mm or diastolic blood pressure (the smaller number) >10 mm in the first 3 minutes standing diagnoses orthostatic hypotension.

The Effect of #Glyphosate on the #Gutmicrobiome and Neurocognitive Function
sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
1/5 Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the herbicide #RoundUp. In 1996 #geneticallymodified soybeans that could tolerate Round Up were introduced. At that time, Round Up made up just 3.8% of herbicides in use. By 2007 glyphosate use was more than double the next herbicide.
2/5 Glyphosate blocks an enzyme used by plants, bacteria, fungi, and algae, including beneficial bacteria in our #gut. Pathogenic bacteria Clostridia and Salmonella are not affected by glyphosate, allowing them to survive.

Mercury causes release of #mastcell mediators #MCAS
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20222982/
1/4 There is a lot of discussion about what causes #mastcellactivationsyndrome. Rarely are toxic metals such as mercury discussed. There is ample published research associating mercury as a cause of mast cell mediator release, including this study.
2/4 Toxins and infections aggravate the immune system, contributing to inflammation & immune dysfunction that drive symptoms. Toxic metals drive a Th2 immune response leading to increase IgE antibody production that bind to mast cells causing them to release their contents.
