1/7 @alt_layer is an application-specific, disposable, multi-chain, modular, and pluggable hyper scaling solution that is compatible with all EVM and WASM chains. It can be viewed as a Layer 3 that solves the problems that all L1 and L2 are facing👇
2/7 Application tailored: Some applications, like GameFI & Metaverse, need specific library support that is not available on a usual L1 or L2 due to the limitations of their virtual machines. Altlayer supports WASM, which will allow applications to access any web assembly code.
3/7 Resource-efficient: Its execution layer, called the "flash layer," can be instantiated at anytime, utilized for as long as needed, and then disposed of so all related resources are freed.
4/7 Modular Design: It is designed to be a modular execution layer that performs optimistic execution so that it can easily be integrated with any L1 or L2.
5/7 Tiered Security: It offers a three-tiered approach that caters to a user’s security budget:👇
1) AltLayer has several block producers that reach consensus on the next block. This avoids a single point of failure & mitigates any censorship from a malicious sequencer.Users may decide to accept a block as soon as at least one honest block producer generates the correct block.
2) Once a block is produced, verifiers check the validity of the block. They re-execute transactions & compare the generated state root w/ the Merkle root committed by the block producers.Users may decide to wait until a given block is verified by at least one verifier.
3) High Budget: As AltLayer ultimately derives security from the underlying Layer 1, a user may decide to wait until the FlashLayer is disposed of and when the dApp state gets rolled up to Layer 1. At this stage the security achieved is the same as that of the sovereign Layer 1.
6/7 Highly elastic with extremely low latency: AltLayer provides dApp developers with their own Layer 2 that is highly elastic with extremely low latency. This is essential because it implements an architecture similar to optimistic rollup design as in Arbitrum.
