Needless to say, child marriages are only one of many problems associated with climate change. These can include poverty, forced migration, hunger, and many more.
The countries that least contribute to global emissions are the most likely to suffer its consequences
What is being done?
The World Bicycle Relief & the Chilojo Club have partnered to provide bikes to girls in Zimbabwe and educate them about the dangers of marrying young. The bikes provide a sustainable way of traveling to school: fighting both #climatechange & #childmarriages
It is imperative that global warming is kept under 1.5ºC.
What can I do to reduce my carbon footprint?
1. Travel sustainably (bikes, bus, walking) 2. Help foundations like those discussed above 3. Follow a more plant-based diet 4. Limit air travel 5. Use green energy
Although there are many actions that individuals can do, we must seek institutionalized change from governments & large companies.
By protesting we can:
1. Call for countries to set radical carbon goals 2. End fossil fuel dependence 3. Pressure contributing companies
