Here’s some advice for how to report on the future of abortion rights after Roe.
When anti-abortion activists claim that SCOTUS overturning of Roe simply about “sending the issue back to the states,” ask follow-up questions—
Then why have Congressional Republican for the past decade introduced federal legislation that would ban abortion after 20-weeks of pregnancy?
The why has the anti-abortion movement advocate for a so-called Human Life Amendment to the U.S. Constitution?
When anti-abortion activists claim public opinion surveys show widespread public support or that particular demographics support severely restricting abortion or prohibiting abortion in most circumstances, ask follow-up questions—
If there’s one thing that I’ve learned from covering anti-abortion state legislation and researching the anti-abortion movement for the past decade—However bad you might think it will be after SCOTUS overturns Roe v. Wade, just know, it’s going to be much much worse…
The anti-abortion movement will not be satisfied with GOP state lawmakers passing bans on abortion (with no exceptions for rape, incest, of health), GOP members of Congress will be expected to pass a federal ban on abortion, and restrict various types of reproductive healthcare.
Also, when GOP state lawmakers pass bans on abortion, expect those same lawmakers in the following years to pass laws further criminalizing medical professionals AND pregnant people, and expect those same lawmakers in following years pass laws increasing those criminal penalties.

"...an organizer who worked with Women for America First, which held the permit for the Ellipse rally, said he was told that Ginni Thomas played a peacemaking role between feuding factions of rally organizers 'so that there wouldn’t be any division around January 6.'"
