🧵High school just called "I've got your son here he's feeling sick do you want to come and get him?" (Lol I know my child is NOT sick I just know) I go pick him up because I know why he's done this. He gets in the car and I say "soo? You OK? and is it what I think?" He said "I'm
2/not sick but Mum SERIOUSLY there was 6 off in my class yesterday today it's 10 & even with my mask, window open & my filter on I did not want to be in that room! The ones who were NOT absent were coughing but I don't mean little coughs mum but like when I had bad night
3/asthma" I said "you don't need to worry, I'm not cross and I'm so glad you did what you did, I had a feeling you weren't sick when she rang"
If people don't keep their really sick kids home it means mine come home instead. Sort your SHIT OUT!! Oh and before you say I'm raising

🧵UPDATE those who knew about the call from school saying they were going to give me a FIXED PENALTY NOTICE for removing my child from a COVID ridden class before 1/2term..I called them out (& council)& used their own policies & the DfEs to argue. I'm now NOT being fined &
2/They apologised. Let me be clear.. you can monitor my child's attendance all you like, just as I will monitor the safety of your classrooms babe. I'll say again she is well looked after & has no gaps in her learning as backed up by her teacher at online parents evening. We will ImageImage
3/NOT be joining the herd. My child's health is more important to me you concentrate on your registers all you like and leave the parenting to me.

🧵Losing a loved one who's way too young to die followed by a pandemic sure does show you those who are with you
Not many rallied round (when I say this I mean my own PERSONAL experience, plenty of people held my family as a whole in their thoughts) people were kind, but for me
Those that did, fell away pretty quickly, grief is too uncomfortable for some especially if you're not over it after a few months.

I'm still not over it.
Losing a younger brother hits different to an ageing grandparent going. That's not to say it doesn't hurt, I've lost all 4 of mine BUT my little brother going was off the charts in comparison. Losing your playmate who you grew up with, laughed with, fought with, shared

🧵Had a BBQ yesterday, with another COVID cautious family (friend with 3 daughters) we all wore FFP2/3 masks, when the BBQ was ready we kept our masks on to load up our plates, we had virus wipes, individually wrapped items & husband obvs wore mask to bbq the sausage and burgers
2/We were outside the entire time in our fairly big garden, for eating, the other family sat at the table I'd set up & my kids wandered off with their burgers to sit on the trampoline (complete other end of the garden) & we were by the bbq (complete other side to the family)
3/Kids & adults then masked & resumed playing & socialising, it wasn't awkward cos we all believed in the same mitigations, all tested, none of us go to busy indoor venues or places like restaurants, all of us mask everywhere inc kids at school. We were together for over 4hrs

🧵I've still NOT caught COVID. IT'S NOT INEVITABLE.
Nor have my kids!
Yes we mask
Yes we test...at least once a week to check.
We avoid crowds & indoor places.
We have fun

Anyway. Carry on.

Life isn't curtailed just cos we don't want to join the herd in pubs & restaurants⬇️
2)Boats parade by the river
3)At school like a boss

🧵The sheer arrogance & entitlemnent attitude of people NOT masking in indoor public events telling us to "stay home" & mask if we want but then walking into schools, work places or health care settings on Monday morning unmasked again where we can't avoid is mind blowingly crass
These same places where you have to fight to get the window to be opened, who often have never heard of or care for what a HEPA filter is or does & where they don't mask but teach your child, treat your mum, work alongside you. It's gross. How is this personal responsibility?
You want to Talk about mental health and inclusivity you're the type that always writes #BeKind? So why does NOT wearing a mask in that crowded indoor space take precedent over the children you teach Monday? The kids or grandma you'll treat at hospital Tuesday? Or your work mate
