I've sat through all but one of the Scottish Parliamentary hearings related to Gender Recognition Reform Bill. Last week I was asked to leave because of my scarf choice, this week a friend was asked to leave after pointing out the Cabinet Secretary was not paying attention 1/

during the final Stage 2 hearing of over 150 proposed amendments to the Bill (otherwise know as papering over the cracks).
I've just noticed that 1 of @thesnp MSPs on the committee dealing with the Bill @SP_EHRCJ is very critical of the member of the public that spoke her mind 2/

Adams MSP conflated a single woman standing up in public, expressing her disgust at the parlous legislative process and the Cabinet Secretary caught doodling, with attacking & harassment & not representing feminism. 3/

Just going to point out, she didn't make sure I was okay after being kicked out for wearing suffrage colours that someone, somewhere, decided were unacceptable in the seat of Scotland's democratic process. Some sodding feminist @karenAdamsMSP is. But anyway...4/

Engaging with legislative proceses, responding to consultations, taking time off work to attend hearings, writing to with MSPs, for a Bill I strongly believe will undermine rights & safety of women & children is exactly what feminism is about & I will not be told otherwise 4/

by a committee member who voted down every single amendment that sought to lessen the detrimental impact of the proposed law.
Makes you wonder how our views can be treated respectfully when such dramatic claims are made about the public, about women Adams disagrees with 5/

And if that level of delusion wasn't enough, along pops an "Office Manager" of another @thesnp MSP to accuse the women in the public gallery of hate. 6/

Hate. Apparently we were "literally spitting with hate". I will repeat, I got kicked out for having a woollen scarf round my neck, what are the chances we'd be allowed to stay if we were literally spitting anything?

The only entitlement we have is the ability to arrange our lives to engage with democracy & for that we are vilified, denounced and - strangest of all - criticised for even bothering to engage when most public galleries in Parliament are bare. 8/

If you can read those tweets & still believe that women's voices are treated evenhandedly by the majority partner in @scotgov then you are deluded. We've been told our concerns are not valid by @nicolasturgeon & now that they are not concerns but hate 9/ heraldscotland.com/politics/19571…

I'm sick of the treatment of women by @thesnp, criticised for paying attention, developing opinions, understanding how laws are made.
