Delhi court hears plea of jailed minister Satyendar Jain against Tihar jail authorities for not providing him basic food items as per his religious belief and also denying him medical check-up.

After yesterday's notice Tihar jail counsel appears and seeks 3 days time to file a response.

Jain counsel: Medical check up due for last 1 month...Situation is alarming. Food is the most basic thing we need. A person in jail doesn't lose his basic right of food.

Jain counsel: I request with folded hands to ask them for a report tomorrow. Food has been withdrawn. I'm on a religious fast. This food was provided even when he was in ED custody. Let them provide that at least. #SatyendarJain

Jail counsel: Heavens are not going to fall for you also. He has survived for two months. He'll survive for 3 days.

Sr adv Rahul Mehra appears for Jain: give them 5 days, 10 daysm
I'm just asking two things-- vegetables and almonds- being a Jain I'm following a certain fast. The weight was 103 and now it is 75. Let an independent person go to jail and see. #SatyendarJain

Mehra: Somebody comes and says I'm not leaking it and then there is something leaked every day. Why are you going all over the country and giving it in a doctored manner.

Mehra: They have taken a particular day and particular time and shown some major thing is going on in jail. Please test everything. We're not running away. Today one release; tomorrow another release. Does your conscience not prick?

Mehra: I'm not saying that. Your honor gave them time yesterday. Today in the morning again one video is released. Kindly ask the DG prisons to appear.

Mehra: Jail is - kahawat is- that parinda bhi par na maar sake. Everyday video is leaked. Is this a media trial. All my rights are thrown to the wind. Without a pre-emptive manner, I will suffer.

Mehra: Print media, electronic media is running it. Will your honor not take a judicial view on this? I'm only an undertrial not a convict. I'm presumed innocent till trial is pending... Won't your honor not protect me as an individual?

Mehra: If ED can come with a reply why can't jail authorities file a reply.
Either ED or jail is releasing. Is a ghost releasing?
Judge: Give me a single instance.
ANI is saying sources from Tihar Jail (footage played) One order from your honour and everything will be quiet.

Judge: You haven't made an application. No prayer by you.

Mehra: I'll make an application give me 10 minutes. Hands and feet were pressed. They said there was a message parlour going on.

Jail counsel: Is he the only jain who has come? Are there not prisoners of other religions. During ramzan don't prisoners fast? If someone is fasting they'll lose weight.
