I would like to ask you to RT this. It’s something which just happened to my 41yo friend back in LA. Healthy, dynamic person, a mom. More energy than I had at 10. It’s imperative that ppl know this could happen to them. #COVID19 #bloodclots 1/6

As I’m lying here in bed with 39 fever and #Covid_19 positive, after 2.5 years of doing my best to keep my family safe, let me share something w/ you. This isn’t sustainable. Repeated infections aren’t sustainable. 🧵
I may recover (hopefully) w/out any long term issues, although 1 in 8 does get some form of Long Covid according to recent data. And then what? There will be another wave in the fall. And this winter. Next spring. How many until you, your bodies, bodies of your kids are broken?
Governments? They don’t care. They only care about stock market etc. They’re still thinking they’re getting rid of “dead weight” like old folks or “sick” ones. Once it’s clear beyond doubt healthy ppl are also dying or getting disabled they will still wait, for new tech or meds

I find it fascinating how “I need to enjoy my life now” narrative is being promoted in the West vs “let’s be careful, we’re still in a pandemic.” I had never before really noticed how consumerist society encourages short term hedonist thinking, but it’s so clear at the moment.
Don’t get me wrong: there’s nothing more I want than to “enjoy life fully now, let’s go!” But I know ppl with lifelong disability and as long as there’s a significant risk Covid might do that to me or my family, I’m not enthusiastic. My mom spent many years w/ health issues.
I guess my point is: is “enjoying life to fullest this summer” worth months of fatigue and not being able to fully show up for my life and my daughter later? What if repeated infection gives her lingering issues?
