@Elonmusk was great, but I was wondering, who was that guy presenting alongside @Elonmusk at the #TeslaSemi delivery event today?? Here’s a thread with some info I put together for the Tesla Twitter community on Dan, a leader for Tesla’s trucking unit.

Currently a Senior Manager of Semi Truck Engineering, leading development and business units. He’s been with Tesla for over a decade. But let’s start from where he came before joining #Tesla.

Dan was a Division 1 student athlete at Stanford University. He studied Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, while playing Defensive End for the Stanford Cardinals football team. 🌲🏈📚

In Dan’s free time, he serves as a Public Service Announcer for his alma mater, announcing at Stanford University Athletic Events, most notably Swimming and Diving, and Baseball.

Dan first started as an intern to troubleshoot and resolve production and supplier issues. He returned the following year for another internship to assist cost-down and redesign efforts on current production parts.

He then joined Tesla full time in the Powertrain Test Lab to run thermal, electrical, and environmental testing on batteries, chargers, & motors. While the lab supports current production programs, he helped design and run tests on prototype components.

From 2015 to 2017, Dan worked for Tesla as a Special Projects Assistant, leading and coordinating a variety of multi-departmental projects. In 2015, he began to manage development of Tesla Truck and programs for Prototype Engineering and Fabrication group.

Since the unveiling of the #TeslaSemi 5 years ago, Dan’s been leading program efforts for all of Tesla trucking. It was great to see him display his knowledge at the inaugural customer deliveries. And I look forward to hearing more about his work alongside the Tesla trucking team
