After 1 year of activity here, I have learned a lot of things.

Most of my old beliefs have changed, thanks to many healthy discussions.

Not for the faint of heart or those who love comfortable lies.

My personal considerations on #SEO and how to improve 🧵
Disclaimer: as said before, these are personal considerations.

They may NOT work for you, everyone's free to craft their own path.
Most of the stuff you read on social media is fake or artificial.

There are wonderful and skilled people but the opposite is also true.

Always have a critical eye and don't fall for the money trap.

Following influencers promising you money won't get you reach.

Prove me wrong.
SEO is much more diversified than many think.

There are entrepreneurs building big projects with just the basics.

For sure, they still need Specialists, but you don't need to be a genius to start.

At least, that's what I've noticed in 1 year.
The mainstream SEO information is aimed at beginners.

If you're reading this, you are probably already past that stage.

To level up, you need practice and networking.

No amount of theory is gonna save you.
The average trend in SEO is "taking" from other fields and distorting definitions.

Just look at the long tail or even at most Semantic SEO concepts.

They are still separate from SEO, it's not like you rank better because you know 5 definitions.

Gotta study from the original.
Backlinks are demonized for no reason.

Look, I am not the greatest fan of PBNs, but I don't discriminate link building.

Why is it strange to do PR Outreach?

It's not, don't believe everything you read.

Naturally, I am advocating good and quality link building!
There are different types of SEO.

I couldn't care less about B2B SaaS if I don't work with those websites.

Some takes are terrible for a model, but can be genial for another one.

Always take this into account.

That's why I tend to specify I talk about B2C content.
It's always a good idea to start a personal project.

Do you have any idea of how many projects I don't like for how they are managed?

That's why I started doing my own projects.

Start to get more control of your life and skills.

No need to waste them in bad ideas.
I don't know why generalism is sometimes praised.

You're going to be just another SEO in the world.

What's your catch?

Why should people think about you?

These are good questions to define your value proposition.
Content isn't saturated because quality is often bad.

You can complain once you actually do it and get some results.

Don't be discouraged, there are blue oceans.

The problems are at most about budget and expertise.
Most of the correlative SEO case studies have an agenda.

"This tool is better, trust me!"

You don't need accuracy but efficiency and convenience.

Complete accuracy for SEO data can't exist, forget about it.
There are harder and easier markets.

SEO is defo easier in some countries, no doubt about that.

There is no need to lie, Google works best in English.

But I didn't think that the gap was that large.

Compare Japanese, Italian, and English SERPs and then tell me...
I agree that we need a minimum knowledge of some SEO topics.

But I disagree with the bold takes of some.

Not every professional needs to know every technical detail or to be a content expert.

To each their own, it's not like you don't get money if you choose another route.
I know some great people that are scared of sharing their knowledge online.

That's because the community is not very nice.

Personally, I suggest they stop caring because people will judge you anyway.

At least give them something good to complain about.
Ageism is a problem in the industry but I can say the same for every other one.

Age in SEO doesn't really make you better.

For sure, experience matters but that's different from your age.

I rarely read about this problem in the community.
Having a personal brand is great if you feel comfortable creating content.

It's always good to tie your image to some topics or services.

If you don't, someone else will do it for you.

I'd prevent that.
Don't fall for the shiny things.

Yesterday it was TikTok hype, today it's ChatGPT.

Stay focused on what you do well and don't get distracted.

Don't get distracted by the buzz and just do what you love.

Google is dying since 2010 according to ""opinions"".
The level of data knowledge is super low in SEO.

Sheets functions are still considered state-of-art by many.

Better for you if you are just starting!

This is a good chance to diversify yourself and do what many can't.

It's so easy to prove the value of some tasks.

Can publishers and big content websites save time with Analytics?

Yes, and also get more $$.

The issue is that some skills are all but mainstream in #SEO.

Let's see 5 methods and ideas that I've tested 🧵
1. Auditing Google Search Console data like an Analyst.

Checking what matters and taking actual action.

Many average SEO audits are expensive and produce long spreadsheets with generic advice.
GSC data allow you to:

- Find decaying content

- Spot new opportunities

- Understand what can be improved

This is key intel because you can find what content is losing you $$.

The best business decisions I've ever taken so far are far from obvious.

In fact, most of them were considered bizarre or even controversial.

#SEO is strictly related to business, you can't escape from it.

Here are my 10 considerations that are quite useful 🧵
1. Build a personal brand.

Many criticized me at first because "are you an influencer???".

Most of your friends won't understand you either.

Do it anyway, it's crucial for your networking and your future.
2. Start freelancing/side projects.

It's easier to make money now if you have some modern skills.

There is no reason to sacrifice extra money that you can use for leisure.

Most of this stuff is starting to become my primary activity with time.

Content Optimization with Analytics:

1) Spot 0-click pages

2) Find decaying articles

3) Inspect 0-click queries

It's incredible how many #SEO Specialists run audits without checking them.

Decaying articles and all the rest can be found here.

You need some coding or spreadsheet knowledge to replicate most of this stuff.
Reporting for content websites can be shorter but more effective.

How to differentiate yourself?

"Riches in the niches", it's true.

Positioning is the real deal!

This applies to websites and people alike.

How to build a great value proposition 🧵
Focus on one area rather than doing it all.

Pick what you like and collaborate with others to solve problems.

My choice is content, data, and strategy.

I just love their interaction.

Websites can do the same by picking specific niches.
Ignore trends if they are not suitable for you.

You have to be updated but you don't need to learn everything.

Don't pick something without synergy to your skillset.

The same goes for businesses.

Don't betray your core values just because someone else told you so.

Many say to understand data when they don't.

This is a problem that plagues the #SEO industry.

In money, this hurts content websites.

But don't worry, there are solutions.

Let's see what you have to consider and why 🧵
Data quality is the most important factor.

Defining what quality is is the first step.

It doesn't always equal accuracy, as we can see with Google Search Console.

But, you can still get useful insights out of it...
As long as you can get relevant and practical insights, the rest is optional.

The choice of language is irrelevant if you are just going to do an analysis.

As long as you get results, everyone's happy.

Don't lose your mind over details.
