Can publishers and big content websites save time with Analytics?

Yes, and also get more $$.

The issue is that some skills are all but mainstream in #SEO.

Let's see 5 methods and ideas that I've tested 🧵
1. Auditing Google Search Console data like an Analyst.

Checking what matters and taking actual action.

Many average SEO audits are expensive and produce long spreadsheets with generic advice.
GSC data allow you to:

- Find decaying content

- Spot new opportunities

- Understand what can be improved

This is key intel because you can find what content is losing you $$.
2. Clustering/Keyword Research.

Grouping together pages or keywords is a gamechanger.

Once you figure out how to do it, the rest follows.

My friend @LeeFootSEO has extensive experience on this topic.

cluster.streamlit.app/SERP_Cluster
Clustering keywords together allow you to get an idea of what you should write.

Lee tested it multiple times with Ecommerce, I did the same with Content websites.

This is key because it takes us minutes to generate ideas.

It takes hours for the average professional.
3. Scraping competitors.

Every data project starts with data (of course!).

Sometimes you want to check your competitors, and that's where scraping can help you.

With those data, you can analyze their URLs and then scrape their text.
Scraping allows you to get intel on what your competitors do.

Crucial examples include entities and anchor texts.

With that knowledge you can optimize your content or find new angles.
4. Named Entity Recognition (NER).

Getting entities from text, that's it.

You can understand what you fail to mention or discover new topics.

I use pre-trained APIs like dandelion-eu from @SpazioDati (they should update it more tho).

TextRazor is another common choice.
I check entities by page and see where I can improve or what I can check.

I don't really do it when I have an extensive experience of the niche but it works anyway.

This process alone is useless without good content.
5. Store data.

Not a method but storing data in databases is key.

GSC only stores the last 16 months of data, so nothing.

You can store daily your GSC data into BigQuery to prevent losses.

Better safe than sorry.
Databases allow for more flexibility and security compared to your random Excel file.

This eventually leads to:

- fewer headaches

- less money spent on security/restructuring

- your analyst will thank you
The usual way I predate on competitors is:

- Check their pages, get some query ideas

- Cluster them and get the articles to write

AND

- Check GSC data

- Find which queries get 0 clicks

- Time to write!

The best business decisions I've ever taken so far are far from obvious.

In fact, most of them were considered bizarre or even controversial.

#SEO is strictly related to business, you can't escape from it.

Here are my 10 considerations that are quite useful 🧵
1. Build a personal brand.

Many criticized me at first because "are you an influencer???".

Most of your friends won't understand you either.

Do it anyway, it's crucial for your networking and your future.
2. Start freelancing/side projects.

It's easier to make money now if you have some modern skills.

There is no reason to sacrifice extra money that you can use for leisure.

Most of this stuff is starting to become my primary activity with time.

After 1 year of activity here, I have learned a lot of things.

Most of my old beliefs have changed, thanks to many healthy discussions.

Not for the faint of heart or those who love comfortable lies.

My personal considerations on #SEO and how to improve 🧵
Disclaimer: as said before, these are personal considerations.

They may NOT work for you, everyone's free to craft their own path.
Most of the stuff you read on social media is fake or artificial.

There are wonderful and skilled people but the opposite is also true.

Always have a critical eye and don't fall for the money trap.

Following influencers promising you money won't get you reach.

Prove me wrong.

Content Optimization with Analytics:

1) Spot 0-click pages

2) Find decaying articles

3) Inspect 0-click queries

It's incredible how many #SEO Specialists run audits without checking them.

How to differentiate yourself?

"Riches in the niches", it's true.

Positioning is the real deal!

This applies to websites and people alike.

How to build a great value proposition 🧵
Focus on one area rather than doing it all.

Pick what you like and collaborate with others to solve problems.

My choice is content, data, and strategy.

I just love their interaction.

Websites can do the same by picking specific niches.
Ignore trends if they are not suitable for you.

You have to be updated but you don't need to learn everything.

Don't pick something without synergy to your skillset.

The same goes for businesses.

Don't betray your core values just because someone else told you so.

Many say to understand data when they don't.

This is a problem that plagues the #SEO industry.

In money, this hurts content websites.

But don't worry, there are solutions.

Let's see what you have to consider and why 🧵
Data quality is the most important factor.

Defining what quality is is the first step.

It doesn't always equal accuracy, as we can see with Google Search Console.

But, you can still get useful insights out of it...
As long as you can get relevant and practical insights, the rest is optional.

The choice of language is irrelevant if you are just going to do an analysis.

As long as you get results, everyone's happy.

Don't lose your mind over details.
