Cilantro is called Dhānyaka (धान्यक) in Sanskritam. That is how we have the name Dhaniya!
Reference to Dhānyaka (धान्यक) is made under Jvaracikitsā (or “the treatment of fever”) which is part of the 7th-century Mādhavacikitsā, a Sanskrit classical work on Āyurveda.
Vasco came to the party much later and he came to the party empty handed!
But when did the party actually begin!
That answer was provided by Steven Weber and Arunima Kashyap. These are ethnobotanists who studied the food left near the stoves of Farmana archeological site in Harappa civilization. (Haryana)
The site is, hold your breath, 4600 years old! It is from 2600 BC. The party was very, very old. Lots of food was prepared and lots of guests (athithi) were served.
Steven Weber and Arunima Kashyap used sophisticated techniques to analyze what was cooked and they list out following spices.
"mustard, turmeric, ginger, fenugreek, coriander,
garlic, poppy, sesame, garlic and possibly safflower"
We still make curry exactly same way!
They also recovered whole seeds whose picture they published in their paper. A screenshot is provided here!
They also did additional studies as described in the paper and listed out grain/pulse/spice from the Farmana site in a table shown below.
Do you see garlic and eggplant too?
What we eat is entirely from India that is Bharat.
I hosted the article from Weber/Kashyap to Archive.org.
I am rewriting my earlier tweet threads about British complicity in creation of Bengal famine.
This has references to the literature and primary sources.
Britain was carried by India through the world wars. #BengalFamine#Colonialism
Indian armed forces grew from 189,000 in 1939 to 2,500,000 in 1945!
India massively carried Britain on her shoulders.
War economics of primary producing countries

Britain promised to share the costs.
The deal was that India would incur the costs first and then UK would provide sterling credits later.
Britain was penniless at that time and India bore the costs.

US must understand that systemic racism still exists.
Reporters must connect the dots and provide the origin of these country quotas.
Country quotas are the favorite tool of a racist.
Beginning 1803 black immigration to America was banned using country quotas. Now we know it was wrong.
In 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act banned immigration of Chinese using similar country quotas. Now we know it was wrong. In fact congress rescinded this 1943!
This is a cuneiform tablet from 1350 BC.
It is a letter communication from Tushratta of Mitanni to Amenhotep III of Egypt negotiating a royal marriage!
Sounds like King Dasharatha.
Read the whole thread. All references are given. #Diwali in Egypt
The tablet is currently in British Museum. (Where else?)
Here is the museum tag if you want to look it up yourself.
Treasure Island is an allegory to City of London. Read this excellent book when you have time. For those who do not have time. I will summarize.
This the dark heart of Britain, the place where democracy goes to die, immensely powerful, equally unaccountable. But British do not know how City of London works
UPI is going to be the biggest disruptor in the finance. Let me explain.
The simplicity of UPI is it's strength. It is closest to cash. You can see money in your wallet. And you use it as though you are exchanging money.
Credit cards have a dissonant experience. UPI wins.
UPI uses the technology inflection to reduce the cost, traditional cards incur many costs due to interchanges and risk of promising credit with insufficient information.
