1/8 I’m grateful for the opportunity to testify before the U.S. House Oversight Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties this morning on the threat of #ChristianNationalism. I will discuss how this ideology overlaps with and provides cover for white supremacy.

2/8 This is the seventh and final hearing in the Subcommittee's series on “Confronting White Supremacy,” chaired by @RepRaskin. This hearing will address “The Evolution of Anti-Democratic Extremist Groups and the Ongoing Threat to Democracy.”

@RepRaskin 3/8 I'm excited to hear from fellow witnesses @Esqueer_ of @cyberlawclinic, @BulldogShadow of @WStatesCenter, Mary McCord of @GeorgetownICAP, and @orensegal of @ADL.

4/8 This is a big moment for our Christians Against Christian Nationalism movement. I’m not aware of another time a witness has been called before Congress to testify about this ideology. We are glad that Congress is investigating this threat to our democracy and our faith.

5/8 I’m proud to stand with Christian leaders including @PB_Curry, @ELCABishopEaton, @jimwallis, @revadamtaylor, @maryjnovak, @shaneclaiborne, @raushenbush, @pagitt, @RevRobSchenck1, @NathanEmpsall, @RevJenButler, and many others in opposing #ChristianNationalism.

7/8 I will also make it clear that investigating #ChristianNationalism is not anti-Christian. Major Christian leaders have joined us in calling on Congress and the @January6thCmte specifically to investigate this ideology. It’s because of our faith that we are so concerned.
