Baker LWJ // Bartender WWX

based from this tweet:

#WangXian Meet Cute/ minor #xicheng/ 🔥🔞NSFW but more plot than I usually do… yay!
______
Wei Wuxian loved working at night. Loved the idea of having the day to himself to relax and sleep then watch
the city come alive. Street lights, fast cars, working downtown had its perks sometimes. Today was like any other except his brother had brought someone with him that night.

“Lan Xichen, this is my brother. Wei Wuxian, new business partner.”

He leaned over the bar.
“Is that so? Well for taking care of my little brother and his company the first round is on the house!” He said with a grin.

The other man returned the smile and ordered something nonalcoholic. WWX didn’t question it- happened a lot with his profession.
He continued on with his shift checking in with Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen every so often.

Lan Xichen was leaning closer to Jiang Cheng then Wei Wuxian had ever seen his brother allow. He didn’t know if it was a part of their business deal but his brother didn’t seem like he
was being harassed. The moment he realized it might be a crush was when his brother offered the other man a sip of his drink!

Wei Wuxian almost yelped but didn’t want to ruin the moment. He busied himself cleaning something but taking a peek every so often.
Lan Xichen was a looker, Wei Wuxian wouldn’t deny that but the second he took Jiang Cheng’s drink his face flushed a bright shade of pink and his eyes glazed over immediately. Wei Wuxian knew that look and was the sign that he needed to cut someone off from drinking.
{But they guy barely had one drink!}

It was clear to see that Lan Xichen was a terrible drinker. Couldn’t handle any amount of alcohol. At some point both men had passed out against the bar. Wei Wuxian finished his closing duties by 4am sharp and sighed.
He could take Jiang Cheng home with him, that was his brother after all. But this Lan Xichen, new business partner to the Jiangs, Wei Wuxian thought it wouldn’t be a good idea.

He very carefully snuck the passed out man’s phone out of his hands.
{No passcode… in 2022?! Really!} He made a mental note to give the guy a firm talking to about tech security when he was more sober.

Wei Wuxian scrolled through the contact list and hummed. Unsure who he could dial to come collect the passed out man.
There were two contacts listed under emergency.
Uncle.
A-Zhan ✨🤩

Wei Wuxian figured between the two, this Lan Xichen probably had a better relationship with ‘A-Zhan’. He dialed the number and waited. He nearly cursed himself not realizing it was so early in the morning to
normal people. Before he could hang up and just stick the guy in the employee locker room, the call connected.

“Xiongzhang?” A voice too crisp for nearly 5am to answer.

“Uh no. Ha, this is going to sound funny or not but your brother? I suppose your brother with how you
answered thinking it was him. He’s passed out at my bar. Can you send me his address I can put him in a taxi or?”

The phone line was silent for a moment. “He does not drink.”

Wei Wuxian snickered. “Hate to break it to you pal. Unless your brothers phone got stolen that is in
fact the drunk man I have in front of me.”

There was a beat of silence so long that Wei Wuxian thought the guy had hung up. Finally the voice replied, “Where is this bar?”

“What?” {Hes gonna come here? At this hour?}
“The address to the establishment my brother is passed out at, may I please have it.” The tone in the man’s voice was short. Irritated.

{Whatever} Wei Wuxian had tried playing nice. He gave the address.

“That is 10 minutes from me. I will be right there.”
And then the call disconnected.

Wei Wuxian couldn’t even say that he was about to leave. {I really hope this guy gets here soon} He was exhausted from his shift and ready for sleep. Just for fun, he set a timer for 10 minutes to see if {A-Zhan}🙄 got here when he said he would.
Wei Wuxian finished wiping down the last of the tables and restocked some pretzels. Jiang Cheng had crawled into a booth and was passed out again, Lan Xichen still sitting at the bar.

Wei Wuxian jolted as his phone alarm went off. “Shit.” He had forgotten about it.
The next moment someone knocked at the bar door. Jiang Cheng shot up, “Jiejie get the door!” Wei Wuxian smiled, then cursed, upset he hadn’t gotten it on video.

He unlocked the dead bolt to see who was outside. A man who was at least 6ft{… 6’2?} tall and looked way more put
together at 5am than Wei Wuxian looked well… any day of his life. His hair was longer than Wei Wuxian’s nearly past the man’s elbow. It was pulled to the side in a neat braid and Wei Wuxian had to hold his hand from grabbing it. His face was similar to Lan Xichen’s but where
that guy had smiled and was friendly, the man in front of Wei Wuxian looked cold, almost unfeeling. Due to the face and height being nearly identical he tried his luck.

“Uh are you A-Zhan?”

The man’s expression changed in an instant.
{Anger that is definitely someone who is angry}

“It was the name saved in the phone um-“

“Lan Wangji.”

Wei Wuxian stepped aside hoping not not offend the guy any more than he had. “Your brother is at the bar.”

With a curt nod, Lan Wangji walked inside.
He moved gracefully despite his height and easily lifted his brother over his shoulder. Wei Wuxian could only stare in awe.

“Didi! You came to my rescue,” Lan Xichen said with a hiccup.

“Huh? Why are there two A-Huans?” Jiang Cheng mumbled then fell back into the booth.
{He’s fine… should be fine} Wei Wuxian didn’t check on his brother.

At the door, Lan Wangji stopped. “When do you work next?”

His mouth was open like a gasping fish. Lan Wangji looked too regal to actually roll his eyes but Wei Wuxian figured he might be close.
“What time do you work? Your next shift?”

“Oh, I clock in at 11 tomorrow.”

Lan Wangji raised an eyebrow. “That’s in a few hours.”

“No no at night.” Wei Wuxian laughed. Lan Wangji did not. If anything he grimaced. Lan Xichen said something that Wei Wuxian didn’t hear.
“Thank you for taking care of my brother.” And off he went. Wei Wuxian was stunned. {What a strange guy… too bad I didn’t get his number.} “Oh well. He was annoyed with me the minute he stepped in. He wouldn’t want my number.”

With the bar clean and empty,
he grabbed his things and Jiang Cheng, dragging the other to his car. The drive wasn’t too bad and all Wei Wuxian could think about is why the other man {no Lan Zhan?} had been up so early. At home, he pushed his brother onto the couch.
Jiang Cheng knew the drill when he woke up to be quiet since Wei Wuxian worked nights.

As he fell into his own bed, Wei Wuxian wondered if he’d ever see that guy again.

//pause//
His next shift had started more or less the same as usual. Clock in. Speak to a few customers who always frequent the bar. Stocking items and making drinks. A routine Wei Wuxian knew by heart.

His coworker nudged him and pointed towards a booth.
“That guy has been here since 10 and hasn’t ordered anything. Call security?”

“Nah,” Wei Wuxian said, drying off his hands. “I’ll take care of it.” He was used to handling rowdy customers, that just came with the job, but someone just sitting there was out of the ordinary.
{Maybe they are waiting on a friend to show up?}

Wei Wuxian approached the table. “Hey we’re don’t really have waiters here if you want to order you need to approach the bar - wait… it’s you?”
It was Lan Wangji from last night. Wei Wuxian put his hands on his hip. “Well what do I owe the honor?”

Lan Wangji stood from the booth and held out a box. Wei Wuxian took it and peeked inside. There were all sorts of baked goods, multiple types of rolls and pastries.
“Uhhh? What is this?”

“I’m a baker. This is thank you for last night.”

Even with the dim bar lights Wei Wuxian could see the tops of the man’s ears were a deep shade of red.

{Do it. Just do it! He brought pastries.} “Wait here one sec!” Before Lan Wangji could respond
Wei Wuxian dashed back to the bar counter. He gave the box to his coworker and grabbed a jacket. “I’ll be outside for a minute!”
When he made it back to Lan Wangji he tugged on his arm. The other man froze for a moment as if uncomfortable but released under Wei Wuxian’s touch.

“Can we talk outside? I promise to be quick and it won’t be as noisy.”

Lan Wangji glanced around them. “You are done working?”
Wei Wuxian gave a small laugh. “Not exactly but I’m taking a quick break.”

Lan Wangji seemed to take that as a good enough answer and followed Wei Wuxian outside.

{Thank gods!}

They were alone in the poorly lit parking lot. Music and shouting could be heard from inside
but had faded into the background. Wei Wuxian stuck his hands in his pockets suddenly nervous. He never thought he’d get this far. Let alone that Lan Wangji would /actually/go with him!

{Play it cool. Play it cool.}

“So do you like bread?” 😀 Wei Wuxian couldn’t stop his mouth!
He wanted to crawl into a hole immediately and never emerge. He buried his face in his hands trying to hide his embarrassment and waiting for Lan Wangji to say something. 🫣

{What the hell is wrong with you? Ask if he likes bread! 🤦‍♂️}
“I like it enough…?” Lan Wangji said with a bit of hesitation. As if he didn’t know if the question was a joke or not.

Wei Wuxian inhaled deeply. “Look I asked you to come out here with the intention of getting your phone number. The other night you were really standoffish
and I think that just had to do with it being early in the morning and I think you’re pretty like really pretty - men shouldn’t be allowed to be this stunningly beautiful and I wanted to ask for your number to ask you out on a date for like coffee or brunch or something like
that cause then we could spend time together and -“ Wei Wuxian looked at Lan Wangji finally. “And I’ve lost you. Uh no problem just ignore-“

“No wait,” Lan Wangji had reached out to stop Wei Wuxian from turning away.
He quickly dropped Wei Wuxian’s arm. “Sorry but don’t go. I can’t - I won’t be able to get coffee or brunch with you.”

Wei Wuxian shrugged. “I should have guessed a guy like you was taken. It’s fine at least I know I tried.”
“I’m not- I’m single. Is that a thing you do a lot?”

“What?”

Lan Wangji stepped closer. “You put yourself down or fill in what people say so you don’t have to hear it yourself. Is that something you do often?”

Wei Wuxian tried not to fidget under the other man’s gaze.
His eyes were a golden brown and there was such intensity behind them. If anyone else had asked the same question, Wei Wuxian would have simply blown it off as a joke. In front of Lan Wangji, it was as if the man was trying to understand.
His expression and words showed genuine concern. He saw something that Wei Wuxian had always kept as a safety net. Lan Wangji held a pair of scissors and cut that net and all that was left was for Wei Wuxian to fall.

“Yes.”

“I see. I can give you my number I actually wanted
to but didn’t know how to ask.” The man looked down and Wei Wuxian realized, Lan Zhan was never cold or unfeeling. He was nervous. Probably more so than Wei Wuxian had been. {But why?! He’s stunning and I’m… hot mess central 😵‍💫}
He pulled out his phone. “We can start from scratch. I’m Wei Ying and I’d like your phone number if that’s not too much trouble handsome.” Wei Wuxian winked.

Lan Wangji murmured. “Ridiculous.” But took the phone dialing his own number and returning it.
“Welp. I will enjoy the goods you left and text you?”

Lan Wangji was holding his own phone, staring at it as if it was the most precious possession in the world.

“Mm!”
With a turn and a wave, Wei Wuxian went back to work and Lan Wangji to his car. Now he just had to get to know Lan Wangji without the other getting annoyed at him.
{Lan Zhan is a good guy, I hope he sees me positive too, I want… no, but he never answered why he didn’t want to get coffee in the morning.🤔}

//passing out 😭 Back in the morning- top of thread is here, let me know how you are liking it 🤗//
Wei Wuxian finished his shift and rushed home. He wanted to sleep and then try to see Lan Wangji later in the day. He sent a quick message before passing out.

WWX📲: Hey, wanted to know if you would be free sometime today? I don’t have to be into work until 11 again.
He turned over and fell asleep. His dreams that night were weird. Nor in a bad way but Wei Wuxian usually had dreams about his childhood or funny moments with his friends. His eyes opened in the dream and he is staring at a cottage in the woods.
He is dressed in black pants that are pulled up to his knees. He is covered in sweat and dirt but feels a great sense of satisfaction for some reason. The front door to the cottage opens and there is a tall figure standing there. Wei Wuxian can’t see their face but his heart,
almost if knowing tells him its the person he will love for the rest of his life.
When he woke up he had multiple notifications. He squinted against the bright light as he unlocked his phone. {4 in the afternoon… I haven’t woken this early in a while}. He thumbed through his social media apps then opened his messages.

3 text messages from {Lan Zhan <33}
Lan Zhan <33📲: Hello Wei Ying, I have an event to cater tonight and would not be available.

Lan Zhan <33📲: If you are free on Friday afternoon we could meet for lunch.

Lan Zhan <33📲: As a thank you for helping my brother.

Wei Wuxian smiled at the phone and sat up in bed.
The text messages had come 2 minutes after Wei Wuxian had sent his. He had barely missed Lan Wangji’s replies.

WWX📲: You already gave me the box of pastries as thanks right? So lunch would be overkill don’t you think.

Wei Wuxian sent the message and waited for a reply.
Lan Wangji’s text message bubble appeared 5 times and disappeared. Almost as if he was typing and stopping multiple times. {Well he could be busy shouldn’t think of it too much}
Lan Zhan <33📲: I apologize if I had made you feel uncomfortable. Please do not feel obligated to accept.
{Wait what?} “Wait what?!” Wei Wuxian jumped from under the covers. What had he said wrong? He reread his message again.

WWX📲: You didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all. I swear! I just didn’t want you to think you have to do all these things because of that night.
Again the text bubbles came and went.

“Come on, come on, come on!” Wei Wuxian hadn’t been this stressed about a message reply since high school. {Did I hurt his feelings…?fuck.}

He threw himself back into the bed almost hitting the headboard. “Fuck.”

//pause// shy Lan hrs🥹
Before we go on quick question…

🧐 LWJ POV really quick or stay WWX?
__________

Wei Wuxian tried to pretend he wasn’t constantly glancing at his phone while he brushed his teeth. He absolutely did not fall out of the shower when he heard a notification nearly breaking his foot. {Damnit Jiang Cheng!}
He made some cup ramen and listed the pros and cons of what to do next.
Pros:
Hot guy liked you and becomes boyfriend…
Cons:
Hot guy didn’t really like you to begin with, was genuinely being nice about his brother being helped, he is at work and will be annoyed…

Wei Wuxian hovered over the contact for one more moment before he hit dial. The phone rang 4 times and then connected to voicemail.
{Guess I really did ruin it.} He hung up without leaving a message. There was nothing he could really say so no point to leave a message.
As soon as he placed his phone down on the counter it started to ring. It was Lan Zhan! {He is calling me back!}

Before Wei Wuxian could even mutter a hello, Lan Wangji spoke.
“I was making a cake. To be precise I was taking a cake out of the oven and that is why I missed your call. I did not want you to misunderstand.”

/Oh/

“I didn’t think anything of it, I just wanted to make sure my message did not offend you.”
There is the sound of something dropping on the other line.

“Lan Zhan?”

“Your message did not offend me. I wanted to make sure I did not offend Wei Ying.”

“No! You were fine. Uh, wow. We are really bad at this?”

“Mm.”
Wei Wuxian tried to think of what to say next. “Lan Zhan, I'd like to go on a date. If that’s okay with you. And no other meaning behind it like calling about your brother just a hot mess trying to shoot his shot with a good looking guy.” He laughed at the end.
“I will go on a date but I have a condition.”

Wei Wuxian tensed. {What does he mean a condition?!}

//pause// finishing this in a few hours thx y’all for reading it also what could the condition be🫣😌✨🤭
“Ok Lan Zhan lay it on me what is the condition?”

“Wei Ying has to be kind to himself.”

{What?} “What?”

“You called yourself a hot mess but you are stunning. You could have done anything to my brother or taken advantage of the situation but you didn’t. That shows kindness.”
“My heart! Lan Zhan, please warn a guy! I haven’t heard you say so many words at once.”

“Mm. Wei Yings smile makes it hard to think straight.”

Wei Wuxian gasped. “Ok ok ok at least let me see you in person one more time before you give me a heart attack.”
Planning to meet was tricky. Lan Wangji worked early in the morning. 5am start time early. Wei Wuxian worked late into the night. Their off days didn’t line up either because the weekends were busy days for both of them.
“Fuck. Lan Zhan are you looking at a calendar right now because if it goes like this,”

“Our actual first date won’t be for another 3 weeks…” Lan Wangji said sounding as disappointed as Wei Wuxian felt.
// pause… my b cause this got longer than I expected and my brain took a turn for WangXian simp4simp hours + smut soooo y’all gotta tell me
“Ya know what Lan Zhan. I’m gonna figure this out. Umm I will message you later!” Wei Wuxian had an idea.

When he got them he had to go for it or his brain would never let up. He searched google but he couldn’t get the answer he needed. He used his next best option
and texted his brother.

WWX: Yo. 🫰

Best Brother to Ever Brother: What.
WWX: I need the phone number to the guy you brought to the bar the other day. 🙏

Best Brother to Ever Brother: Why.

WWX: Because I need it. Pls 🥺

Best Brother to Ever Brother:
{A- Huan✨💞 Contact}
Best Brother to Ever Brother: Don’t use that emoji it’s gross. 🤢
WWX: 💀 Is there a reason you call him A-Huan? 🤨 Like business partnership related? 🤔

Best Brother to Ever Brother: What?
WWX: {screen shot} it sends me the name you have the person saved as… sooo are we unpacking that or…

Best Brother to Ever Brother:{message read 1 minute ago}

Wei Wuxian cackled. {Oh Jiang Cheng ok focus now I just have to…}

He pulled up a new blank message.
There wasn’t really a way to ask his question without seeming like a stalker. It was one thing for Lan Zhan to have the address to his job. After all Wei Wuxian gave it to him.

{But for me to ask out of the blue for his works address…}
Wei Wuxian typed and reread his message.

WWX: Hello Lan Xichen, this is Wei Wuxian the bartender. I was wondering why doesn’t your brother have any social media presence? I can’t find him online anywhere let alone where he works.

{… absolutely not.}
He deleted the message and tried again.

WWX: Greetings, {Nope.}

It took 8 more tries until he figured out the best way to word what he wanted to say.
WWX📲:Hello Lan Huan, this is Wei Wuxian. You and my brother seem closer than ‘business partners’ so I’m not gonna feel weird in asking.
WWX📲: I like Lan Zhan but the whole baker and bartender thing is making it impossible for us to meet so I need to know where he works so I can try to see him sooner. Pls🙏🥺

Wei Wuxian bit at his thumb waiting for a reply. {Please don’t think I’m weird. Please don’t think I’m-}
Lan Xichen: Yes, I do remember who you are. I am happy to know Wangji has made a friend but why do you not just ask him?

Wei Wuxian reread the message.

WWX📲: Pls do not tell him it’s supposed to be a surprise.
{He surprised me at my job even though he has to wake up early I just wanna do the same…}
Lan Xichen📲: I don’t know what you have planned but I hope it is in my brothers best interest. {address}

WWX: 🥹 Thx you thx you thx you so much!!! Wait one more question-

With the second reply, Wei Wuxian grinned to himself.
It was mid afternoon so he had time to run to the different stores needed. He knew Lan Wangji was at an event so he didn’t text him anything more than “I hope you have a good night”.

He went to bed early for once. {Everything is ready to go}.

***
***

When he opens his eyes again, it’s 3am. Wei Wuxian almost cried but then he remembers why he is doing this. He goes to the kitchen and starts to cook. He sets the new electric kettle up to brew some tea.
{It wont be perfect and way less fancy than Lan Zhan is probably used to but… he will like it- I hope}

He carefully poured the tea into a heated travel mug and put the breakfast into a tin container to keep warm. He kept the spice mild (as advised by Lan Xichen)
Wei Wuxian wasn’t great at cooking everything but a breakfast of eggs, congee, and pickled vegetables he could handle.

Wei Wuxian secured the dishes in the car and carefully input the address to the bakery.
It was 30 minutes before Lan Wangji was supposed to arrive (again- according to his brother) so Wei Wuxian would make it before him.

He attempted to push away any worries he had. {Either Lan Zhan will like it or tell me to get lost…} Wei Wuxian frowned.
He didn’t like the thought that Lan Wangji would think this was too much, too soon, they barely know each other!

But he wanted, Wei Wuxian wanted so bad, to get to know the other man.

Before too long he was in an empty parking lot, staring at the closed sign of the building.
{GusuLan Bakery} A tone sounded from his phone. “You have arrived”

“Alright! No going back!”

Wei Wuxian turned off the car and opened the trunk pulling out a box of supplies. He then carefully extracted the meal and carried to the bakery door.
//pause! Hope y’all are liking this! Should Wei Wuxian’s gesture be a success or mess? (Regardless of what y’all choose LWJs reaction will not change) 🤗
Success has won!!! You got it! 😉✨
__________

It was cheesy- so cheesy Wei Wuxian almost talked himself out of it. But when he gave the idea to LXC he seemed almost impressed with the amount of thought Wei Wuxian had given his task.
The bakery was small so there was no seating inside but there were two tables
outside covered by an awning. It wouldn’t do anything to protect against the cold but it would keep the slight snowfall out of the food. He set the box behind him on the other table and began setting up.

He tossed a table cloth and then set small vase with some type of blue
flower that reminded him of Lan Wangji. The tag had read “gentian” Wei Wuxian had shrugged and put them in his cart.

He kept the food and tea covered hoping it would stay warm until Lan Wangji arrived.

His brother said Lan Wangji goes to work early then does eat till around
midday. He also assured Lan Wangji’s start time so he could pull this off. Wei Wuxian figured maybe he couldn’t do this everyday but enough. {Now if Lan Zhan moved in with me… no that’s thinking too far ahead quit it.}
Wei Wuxian pulled his jacket tighter around his shoulders and paced to keep warm. Out the corner of his eye he sees a pair of headlights turn into the parking lot. Wei Wuxian smiled bright when he saw the man step out of the SUV.

“Lan Zhan!” He waved big. “Good morning!”
“Wei Ying?” Lan Wangji looked surprised. Wei Wuxian couldn’t tell if it was a good surprise or bad but he kept going.

“Yeah I wanted to - ok well our schedules are basically opposite but I figured if I can get up early if I was off that night it shouldn’t be too bad.”
He gestured behind him. “I made breakfast for us to eat. It’s not a lot but your brother said that you don’t eat till later in the day.”

“You talked to my brother?”
“Yea! Well I needed to know where you worked and I could have asked you but I wanted it to be a surprise it seemed more romantic that way.”

Lan Wangji stepped closer and stared at Wei Wuxian intently. “Romantic?”

“Lan Zhan, I didn’t mean - well no I did but -“
Two warm hands caressed his cheeks and tilted his head higher. Wei Wuxian was shorter but he didn’t have to strain to look back into the golden eyes.

The distance closed between them, soft lips meeting his own. “Thank you Wei Ying.”
Wei Wuxian was stunned, mouth slightly parted from the kiss. He coughed and regained his composure. “It’s the least I could do. Now hurry and eat so you can start your day and I can get back in bed.”

“Or I have another idea.” Lan Wangji pointed towards the table.
“We eat and then spend the day together.”

“Lan Zhan! You can’t just skip work.” Wei Wuxian scolded. If he was being honest, it sounded like the most perfect plan but jobs and money, can’t be reckless with that.
“Wei Ying, I own the bakery. Well my family does and you are willing to do all of this, I could do the same.”

“Ah! The day together with you! Wait, why didn’t you just say that when we were trying to figure out when to go on a date?”
Lan Zhan led them over to the table and pulled the chair out for Wei Wuxian. “I couldn’t just change the schedule without speaking to my brother first.”

Wei Wuxian scoffed, “Well what about me going back to bed?”
Lan Wangji shrugged after sitting down. “There is no rule that says we cannot go to bed… together.”
“Lan Zhan! How can you say something like that out loud!”

“Easily. I don’t want Wei Ying to misinterpret my intentions.”

Wei Wuxian had started setting food on the table and stopped. He gave a sly grin. “Oh? And what would those intentions be?”
“I don’t think it’s best to share this early in the morning.”

Wei Wuxian was going to tease him again but when he met Lan Wangji’s gaze it was almost looking at a predator ready to pounce. The man’s ears were a bright red that Wei Wuxian had initially thought was due to the
cold but no.

{Maybe it is best we save that for later 😅}

They ate and talked. Mostly, Wei Wuxian talked and Lan Wangji listened. He asked questions and nodded in understanding. Wei Wuxian talked about his family, putting a pause on school and bartending.
When he was done eating Lan Wangji spoke about the bakery being a dream of his mothers. She was able to see it opened but had passed shortly after. The Lan brothers saw to it that was a success.

“Did you want to be a baker, Lan Zhan?”
The man leaned back in his seat looking above Wei Wuxian’s head.

“I don’t think so. I was freshly graduated when she passed and the grief of that alone had kept me from leaving town. My brother and I have always been close so it just made sense to keep the shop running.”
Their hands met almost naturally across the table. Wei Wuxian squeezed the other’s hand.

“Sorry.”

“No no,” Wei Wuxian chided,
“That’s not something to be sorry about Lan Zhan. If anything I’m happy you told me. Um not in a bad way but that you felt comfortable enough to share something personal with me.”

Lan Wangji squeezed his hand back. Wei Wuxian felt it all the way in his heart.
{It’s barely a first date you can’t fall in love yet idiot}

Their first date was eating outside a bakery at 4am. Their plans for the rest of the day do include sleeping together, not the sexy kind, the kind where Wei Wuxian gets a sort of headache and Lan Wangji forces him
to sleep cause he works that night.

That’s how their days pass. One of them waking up early, the other staying up late - intentionally making time for each other. The ‘mini dates’ Wei Wuxian calls them affectionately.
Then the day comes, Wei Wuxian requests a whole weekend off and Lan Wangji blocks out his schedule for the same days.

Because Wei Wuxian had initiated the mini dates, Lan Wangji said he would plan out their first couples weekend. They had only been dating for 2 months.
Wei Wuxian lost count of how many mini dates there were, he only knew that every moment spent with Lan Wangji was worth the dip in his sleep schedule.

The night before Lan Wangji had sent a text that threw Wei Wuxian off but he figured it had to do with their upcoming vacation.
Future Husband 💍: Pack a bag for the weekend.

Wei Wuxian had thrown together some clothes to be casual hanging out at Lan Wangji’s house, two outfits for a date night, and some rather risqué laced items (just in case).

They had kissed before. Things had gotten… intense
{Look at Lan Zhan and tell me you honestly wouldn’t do that same! Anyone would want to (redacted)}.
But they had never gone all the way. Bar employee lounges and parked SUVs is not where Wei Wuxian wanted this memory to be.

So Lan Zhan’s house it was!

His boyfriend picked him up the next morning at 9am. Wei Wuxian wore jeans and a long sleeve t shirt from highschool.
He threw his bag in the trunk and they were off. 30 minutes later, he noticed they were heading away from the city.

“Uh? Lan Zhan? Where are we going?”

“It is a vacation.”

Wei Wuxian nearly snorted. “Yeah I got that but I didn’t think you lived this far out of the city.”
“I do not. We are going to the estate house.”

“Estate?!” Wei Wuxian shrieked. He couldn’t see Lan Wangji’s eyes through the man’s sunglasses.

“Wei Ying, I apologize I have not been completely honest.”
