Pam Gosal (Con): "Data collection is key to understanding and analysing the impact of #GRRBill. As was made clear by Reem Alsalem data collection on impact of self-ID model does not go far enough. Amd. 69 calls on data collection of detransitioners."
How many; Sex; Time period.

Describes session with detransitioners - permanent bodily changes. Expresse concerns about lack of data.
Since #GRRBill remove protections for children, "many young people risk making rushed decisions they might later end up regreting and without adequate support"

Data will be crucial for any (Cass like) review.
Amd. 70 calls for more data collection of 'acquired gender' and sex in healthcare and criminal justice.
E.g. How many GRC holders work in healthcare and prisons "as women in these setting can be vulnerable".

Scotland's public bodies should have duty to report quant data on biological sex, in addition to "legal sex gender identity".

Changing sex on medical records a risk. Are people given the right advice about the impact of this?
Some will say there is no reason #GRRBill will affect data collection. Sullivan told committee: "Reasonable assumption but it would be a mistake."
Unintended consequences of GRA04

Michelle Thomson: Letter from 91 social scientists to Scotland's Chief Statistician about data collection on sex. She quotes:
"We find the conclusion that sex based data should rarely be collected astonishing. Sex is a fundamental demographic variable." #GRRBill

She goes on: "A lack of sex disaggregated data often leads to the needs of women and girls being ignored."

Gosal urging members to support amendments in this group for data collection.
