🧵 THREAD 🧵
Can @Arsenal maintain their lead? 👀

The Gunners top the table at Christmas for the first time in 15 years as they chase their fourth #PL title. But reigning champions @ManCity are hot on their heels, Pep Guardiola’s side trailing by five points.
Players taking the knee ✊

#PL players will take the knee on matches between 26-28 December as part of the #NoRoomForRacism campaign, amplifying the message that racism has no place in football or in wider society
Kane targets festive records ⚽️

Harry Kane is targeting his 10th Boxing Day goal, a new #PL record. He is just four goals away from equalling Shearer’s 23 goals over the festive period and five goals shy of reaching 200 #PL strikes…
Can Haaland pick up where he left off? 🔥

Erling Haaland is well on course to win the @Castrol Golden Boot, with 18 goals in 13 matches. The Norwegian has been resting whilst the #FIFAWorldCup took place, will he continue his scoring form?
Can a rested Salah find his form? 💪

The three-time @Castrol Golden Boot winner has found the net six times this season. The Egyptian has had the benefit of a rest during the #FIFAWorldCup, featuring in just two friendlies. He faces Aston Villa in Matchweek 17
#FPL managers enter Second Chance league 🙌

Great news for @OfficialFPL bosses who have got off to a slow start… The Second Chance league starts with everyone on zero points with scoring beginning in #FPL Gameweek 17. Managers have unlimited transfers until 11:00 GMT on 26 Dec
More rest for players between matches ⏰

The festive fixtures come thick and fast but arrangements have been made for players to allow more time between games. No club will play within 48 hours of another one of their matches
New managers aim to make an impact 👊

Julen Lopetegui’s first match in charge of Wolves is a six-pointer at the foot of the table against Everton. Unai Emery is aiming to make it three wins from three with Aston Villa

📈 Back fours
📉 Three-at-the-backs

A notable trend from the first part of the 2022/23 #PL is the move away from a back three system for many sides

🧵 Thread 🧵 Image
Only Antonio Conte's Spurs and Graham Potter's Chelsea use a back 3️⃣ as their preferred system

Brentford, Brighton and Wolves did too last season, but have adopted a back four as their first-choice this campaign ImageImage
In 2021/22, a back three was used by #PL sides in 28.6% of all matches ⬆️

This season, that figure has dropped to 22.2% ⬇️ Image

We asked these football legends about their favourite moments and players in the #PL, to celebrate #PL30 🎂

🧵 THREAD 🧵
🗣 Jamie Redknapp

"The Premier League has done a great job for football, I think it is the best league in the world.

"Blackburn winning the Premier League at Anfield was an amazing day. I was playing for Liverpool, everyone at Anfield wanted Rovers to win instead of Man Utd!"
🗣 @MicahRichards

"My favourite moment is Aguero winning Man City the title in 2011/12, it can't be topped

"Dennis Bergkamp was a genius. If you look at all these flair players you have now, he started it. Thierry Henry brought that sauce, I remember playing against him"

How #PL matches will be different behind closed doors. A guide to the safety measures in place during the match 👇
🏃‍♂️ If there's only one tunnel at the stadium, the away team’s players will enter the pitch first, followed by the home team

📏 When they line up for the #PL anthem, players will now stand in a staggered formation

🛑 Handshakes between the two teams will no longer happen
📏 Benches will be expanded to enable social-distancing. This includes using seats next to the bench or reallocating seats to provide the required distance

⚠️ Those in the technical area must maintain social-distancing, with zones marked out to guide them
