Under @GovAbbott's leadership, TX has increased its electricity-generating capacity to the point where the state generates 2.76 times as much as CA. On a per capita basis, TX has about 4.01 kW capacity per person, while CA has about 1.45 kW per person.

Under @GovAbbott's leadership, TX has grown wind power generating capacity per person to 1.07 kW compared to CA's .21 kW per person (5X more).
TX generates 31,118 megawatts of wind power while CA generates only 8,183 megawatts.

But it is VITAL to realize that the actual power grid - called #ERCOT - is run by a board of 11 people selected by a committee of 3 people - one appointed by @GovAbbott, one by @DanPatrick, & one by @DadePhelan - the ERCOT board is now 100% independent.
TX Power 🧵4/11
In June 2021 @GovAbbott signed Senate Bills 2 & 3 overhauling the state’s power grid after the devastating winter storm in February 2021 and the widespread power outages that followed.
The biggest problem facing TX isn't the amount of power being generated but instead the failure of scientists to accurately project the impact of global warming on TX weather - promised warming never materialized and our grid wasn't ready for record low temps.
TX Power 🧵6/11
Failed candidate, @BetoORourke, famously promised he would dismantle ERCOT and connect TX to the national grid. This would have been a mistake for several reasons.
TX Power 🧵7/11
Increased complexity: Connecting ERCOT to the national power grid would likely increase the complexity of the electric system in Texas, as it would require the integration of multiple regional transmission organizations (RTOs).
TX Power 🧵8/11
Higher costs: Connecting ERCOT to the national power grid would likely require significant investments in new transmission infrastructure, which could increase costs for consumers.
TX Power 🧵9/11
Loss of independence: ERCOT currently operates as an independent system, which allows it to make its own decisions about how to manage the electric grid in Texas. Connecting to the national power grid could potentially reduce this independence.
TX Power 🧵10/11
TX is also under constant attack from the EPA and NGOs to shut down power generation capacity in the state BEFORE new clean sources are up and running. utilitydive.com/news/ngos-sue-…

PANAMA CANAL: Trump suggested the US might need to take over control of the Panama Canal. Interestingly the Torrijos-Carter Treaty allows the US to take control of the canal if operation is disrupted. Panama has struggled to keep the canal operating and it is the responsibility of the US to take over if neccessary.
PANAMA CANAL: Panama's president said that the canal will continue to remain under his control. Trump responded, "We'll See about that!"

PANAMA CANAL: President Trump doubled down and announced that he had renamed the Panama Canal the "United States Canal!"
Democrats are furious they’re not getting raises, so furious they are blocking aid to disaster victims…
So far not a single Democrat has voted to provide disaster aid. Only four Republicans have voted against it. The government will shutdown.
Six Republicans have voted against disaster aid along with 100% of Democrats. @Polymarket predicts 73% chance of government shutdown. Laughing can be heard over the CSPAN live feed.
COVERUP: Why didn't the DOJ bother to tell us that a after a three year FBI investigation a grand jury determined that Reps Schiff and Swalwell leaked classified documents to the press? Why didn't they prosecute the leakers? The DOJ IG is asking the same questions.
COVERUP: Make no mistake Section 605 of the Continuing Resolution was designed to prevent @PamBondi and @Kash_Patel from investigating Schiff, Swalwell, and Cheney.

COVERUP? Has anyone else noticed a concerted effort to suppress the drone story? The new narrative is that there are no drones and that we’ve all been seeing airplanes. Everytime I share new video it get immediately ‘community noted’. Who is behind the suppression?
COVERUP? Clearly videos like this one are merely airplanes. This is how airplanes move.
COUP? Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law against "antistate forces" Tuesday night in an unannounced press conference, according to media reports.
Martial law in South Korea refers to a legal framework under which the administrative and judicial powers of the state are transferred to a military commander. Under the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, the president has the authority to declare martial law, as stipulated by the Martial Law Act, in circumstances of war, armed conflict or other national emergencies deemed equivalent in gravity. The objective of martial law is to meet military requirements or maintain public safety and order when the normal functions of government are perceived to be inadequate.
Martial law is divided into two types: emergency martial law and security martial law. Emergency martial law grants the government sweeping powers, such as suspending the warrant system, restricting freedom of the press, curbing publication rights and limiting assembly and association, as well as overriding the authority of civilian courts and government agencies. When martial law is declared, the president must notify the National Assembly immediately. If the National Assembly demands its termination by a majority vote, the president is legally obligated to comply. While the National Assembly retains legislative authority, there are exceptional circumstances under which a military regime can temporarily assume control, particularly in the event of a coup that disrupts the normal constitutional order.
COUP: They’ve been predicting President Yeol would declare martial law since September. The folks who shared the warning were called conspiracy theorists.
PARDON? President Biden decided to go back on his promise not to pardon his son Hunter. First, I think this is the right thing for a father to do. Second, this will create an interesting situation as Hunter will no longer be able to invoke the 5th Amendment and will have to testify against his father. Third, it will be interesting to see how the media handles this. Will they call the president out for breaking his promise to the American people or will they give the almost former president cover?
Biden's Statement:
Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.
The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my re-election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the courtroom — with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.
No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong. There has been an effort to break Hunter — who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me — and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.
For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They’ll be fair-minded. Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice — and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.
