128.14/ Some of my #Chanukah hot-takes now that this Bird Site is on rails towards a trainwreck:
1) Dreidel is a boring game 2) Latkes are about as tasty as flat potato kugel 3) Sufganiyot are bad donuts 4) The Hasmonean kings were pretty terrible.
128.14b/ Two more #ChanukahHotTakes 5) Dairy "gelt" aren't worth it (but pareve is always useful) 6) It's not a minor holiday. Tu B'Av - mentioned in the Gemara - is "minor." #Hanukkah has full Hallel, Al Ha-Nisim, Torah reading, active mitzvot (neirot), etc. It's high Rabbinic.
(My favorite latkes, by the way, are pictured below)
128.15/ This picture is making the rounds. As a lifelong gabbai, I can say there are two types of gabbai reactions to this array: (1) stress (who will agree to daven, who gets aliyot, etc); or (2) glee at being center of decision making & klopping the bimah before shemona esrei.
128.16/ Used #Chanukah candles to teach someone the #NFL positions. I explained the names are logical b/c it's based around the line of scrimmage (in blue). The line-men: Yellow are "ends" purple are "tackles" green are "guards" and orange the "center."
128.17/ #Chanukah night eight. Full house. Take THAT Antiochus, ya goon.
(And, sorry @ShammaiIntl, you get to make everything a sheni b'tumah as a consolation prize.)

127.03/ Watching the #WorldCup - because the championship game in any sport is worth watching - and choosing to support ARG because I have cousins there. Whenever I see a header I think of this C&H:
126.02/ #MotzeiShabbatMovieNight continues with Superman (1978) the trend-setter for all modern superhero movies. Also IMO has the best theme music and I *love* movie/TV themes. Brilliant art direction, amazing cast. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_…
126.03/ Reference for NFL euphemisms: (1) "[player showing some] discomfort" = he's injured and in pain, (2) "[player is] shaken up" = he's so injured that he can't get up, (3) "[player is] down" = an injury that would prompt a normal person to call 911.
125.03/ #ByeJake. I wish he could've stayed a Met, because every start of his was a pleasure to anticipate & enjoy. Bad seasons were endurable when he took the mound. At his best, he was the best baseball could be. Here's one of his finest moments. #LGM
124.02/ Shabbat was wonderful but incredibly rainy. We got to daven mincha & maariv on Sat. afternoon/night at the famed "Shteibelach" minyan factory. Tried again this AM but shacharit in the 6 o'clock hour is not as "factory-ish" as I was led to believe. So we went one block up
124.03/ We're leaving back to America imminently. It was way too short a trip, and the days were short as well. I didn't get to see so many of my friends and I apologize for that. I'll try to make it up next time (suggested bribe: shawarma)
Of course, I've shown the family this movie before - I'm no monster - but it's been too long & the kids are forgetting the lines, and that can't be. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Night_a…
