The Ethiopian Government delegation led by House Speaker #TagesseChafo arrived at #Mekelle Alula Abanega International airport early this morning in what we believe is a milestone in the peace agreement to end the war in/on Tigray. The delegation also comprises a half dozen high
ranking ministers and heads of public enterprises including commercial bank of Ethiopia, Ethiopian airlines and Ethiotelecom. The delegation was warmly welcomed at the airport by representatives of the public, religious leaders and Tigray government officials.Fruitful discussions
were held & important understanding reached. The government’s gesture to green light the long over due restoration of services is commendable. That none of the delegation members bothered to bring close protection guards is a testament to their confidence in Tigray’s commitment
to the peace agreement. Tigray on its part has welcomed and treated its guests with a sense of respect and responsibility. We will continue to build on the progress while addressing challenges ahead.

If some in the international community still harbor the illusion that #AbiyAhmed would respond affirmatively to GoT’s call for a mutually agreed cessation of hostilities agreement once he secures ‘a position of strength’ in the disastrous campaign he did launch three weeks ago,
they definitely are in for disappointment for at least two reasons. For one, by not exerting enough pressure on these repeat offenders, they are allowing the regime and its Eritrean allies to shed more blood in pursuit of a genocidal goal. More importantly, a position of strength
is hard to come by if you are trying to defeat & annihilate the people of Tigray. The series of offensives #Abiy & #Isaias did launch has hit a brick wall. Their forces are in disarray in many fronts with tens of 1000s rendered out of action. So much for a position of strength!
#Abiy & Co are trying to have their supporters believe that they are making advances in battlefields in #Amhara and #Afar: they are not. In fact, thousands more are being mopped down by our forces everyday. As we speak, thousands are killed in Haro, Wegeletena & Debrezebit. What
has slightly changed the last couple days is, #Abiy is deploying not regular army, special police or even unarmed militia. They are sending #Tabot carrying priests, women and children as cannon fodders. Our forces are trying to avoid the slaughter of children & women as best they
can. We are taking very measured steps to avoid unnecessary loss of press ganged civilians while relentlessly destroying whatever is left of the capabilities of enemy forces. There is no chance #Abiy will have his way. We won’t stop until our conditions are met & fully.
