If some in the international community still harbor the illusion that #AbiyAhmed would respond affirmatively to GoT’s call for a mutually agreed cessation of hostilities agreement once he secures ‘a position of strength’ in the disastrous campaign he did launch three weeks ago,
they definitely are in for disappointment for at least two reasons. For one, by not exerting enough pressure on these repeat offenders, they are allowing the regime and its Eritrean allies to shed more blood in pursuit of a genocidal goal. More importantly, a position of strength
is hard to come by if you are trying to defeat & annihilate the people of Tigray. The series of offensives #Abiy & #Isaias did launch has hit a brick wall. Their forces are in disarray in many fronts with tens of 1000s rendered out of action. So much for a position of strength!

#Abiy & Co are trying to have their supporters believe that they are making advances in battlefields in #Amhara and #Afar: they are not. In fact, thousands more are being mopped down by our forces everyday. As we speak, thousands are killed in Haro, Wegeletena & Debrezebit. What
has slightly changed the last couple days is, #Abiy is deploying not regular army, special police or even unarmed militia. They are sending #Tabot carrying priests, women and children as cannon fodders. Our forces are trying to avoid the slaughter of children & women as best they
can. We are taking very measured steps to avoid unnecessary loss of press ganged civilians while relentlessly destroying whatever is left of the capabilities of enemy forces. There is no chance #Abiy will have his way. We won’t stop until our conditions are met & fully.

I don't know much about #PresidentErdogan of Turkey's commitment to help out #AbiyAhmed's genocidal campaign against Tigray. We know #IsaiasAfewerki still thinks he can come to #Abiy's rescue &is sending more forces to #Afar& #WesternTigray. And more desperate moves, I guess.
But we know one thing for certain: there is little left #AbiyAhmed's regime is beyond the pale. No missiles, no drones from Turkey or otherwise; no peasant recruits, nor airborne units from Eritrea or Ethiopia are going to prevent his total defeat. Unilateral acceptance of
our conditions is the only way out of this quagmire he has landed the country in. The international community needs to get its acts together bring its pressure on the #twin-tyrants of the Horn of Africa and their gullible enablers wherever they are from.

#AbiyAhmed's war machine is,essentially, destroyed. What was little left of his regular army has been destroyed or in disarray in engagements in #Afar, NorthernWollo and #NorthernGondar yesterday&today. The last strongholds in Qobo& AdiArqay, Chawber have been broken. Period!
Quite simply, there is nothing that could stop our advance and #Abiy&his cronies know it. Sadly though, they are in a farcical recruiting drive. Ill trained/equipped peasants are being sent to Afar & Amhara as cannon fodders. We will continue to send them back home.
#Abiy is instigating a genocide of colossal proportions against our people&we won't stop@nothing to make sure he has no Kalanshikov left to kill a single child. We call on all Ethiopians to tell #Abiy&Co that they cannot lie their way out of the crisis Ethiopia is in. Enough!

1. The #WarOnTigray, as the Oromo public intellectual @awolallo rightly put it in his latest appearance on @AJENews, is ''an extension of the war that @AbiyAhmedAli has been prosecuting in places like Oromia”.
2. The recent military confrontation in #Tigray cannot be properly understood without making a reference to the underlying nature of & the alignment of forces in the already ongoing conflict dynamics all over #Ethiopia.

My take on @AbiyAhmedAli‘s recent perplexing & dictatorial actions within one week:

Following the closed door meeting by the govt (see 👇), #Abiy had a meeting with opposition parties on 1st May to discuss current affairs such as the election saga. 1/6

Four options were presented by the govt at the meeting, although it appeared from @AbiyAhmedAli’s responses to comments raised by the opposition parties indicated that the decision was predetermined, therefore the meeting seemed to have been held for a PR stunt. 2/6
The govt invited opposition parties to the meeting with less than 24-hours notice & didn't provide them with an agenda – they're merely told "to discuss current affairs". They heard about the four options at the meeting & were no indication to have further meeting with them. 3/6

Will Tigray leave or remain in #Ethiopia?

#TPLF's calculated moves so far could assist with predicting the likely future of #Tigray.

The current TPLF (since #Abiy came to power) had been carefully following procedures when it comes to dealing with the federal govt. 1/12
#TPLF had been releasing a number of statements/announcements, both written & verbal, which may seem pointless to the juvenile, naive and/or intentionally deaf ears but they're calculated & sensible than anyone could imagine. Every statements had some reasoning behind it. 2/12
#TPLF peacefully handed over power to #Abiy in the hope that he will execute #EPRDF’s future plans in line with the party member’s agreement. Unfortunately, Abiy had other sinister plans. Abiy & Co. fooled TPLF & managed to successfully undertake the #SoftCoup. 3/12

My take on the latest saga relating to the #GERD, mainly focusing on the key element of the official joint statement of #Egypt, #Ethiopia, #Sudan, #US & #WorldBank which was released following the meeting held in the US on 6th of November 👇

The key word is "INVOKED" 1/9
#Egypt achieved its main goal by getting #Ethiopia to agree to invoke Article 10 of the 2015 Declaration of Principle should the ministers of the tripartite failed to reach an agreement by 15 January 2020. Ethiopia shouldn't have attended the meeting, let alone an agreement. 2/9
The fundamental question is: why is #Egypt now keen on invoking Article 10 of the 2015 Declaration? Why not in the past? It's been nearly five years since this Declaration

Let me start with the basics by identifying the critical item that would raise eyebrows in Article 10: 3/9

Here is my take on #EPRDF's statement released today - rather a rebuttal to #TPLF's one released on 15/10/19:

EPRDF's:
m.facebook.com/story.php?stor…

TPLF's: m.facebook.com/story.php?stor…

N.B. It shouldn't have been referred as EPRDF's statement but I am going to let this one slid. 1/9
1) #EPRDF indicated: #TPLF said the merger plan started since #Abiy took power. Wrong, TPLF said the reverse, admitted its involvement in the past & confirmed they aren't ready to join now due to the current unstable situation in #Ethiopia & the unsustainable move by others 2/9
2) Since #Abiy came to power, he was presenting himself as the originator of the merger plan & was taking all the credits - why is he now saying it was #EPRDF's idea & #TPLF was involved, etc i.e. why is he retreating when the gone gets tough. He can't have it both ways! 3/9

WORTH READING!

The new coalition party "#Ethiopian Prosperity Party" (#EPP), "የኢትዮጵያ የብልፅግና ፓርቲ" (#ኢብፓ) formed by PM #Abiy raises a lot of questions than answers about Abiy's ability to lead.

See below list of sensible questions that are worth digesting. 1/7
1) #Abiy has been, and still is, doing anything he wants under the #EPRDF umbrella. So, why form a new party now considering the upcoming election is just round the corner? Surely, he cannot say that #EPP has all the logistics in place to be a competitive democratic party. 2/7
2) Is it really #Abiy's own decision/choice to form #EPP or there are lobbyists influencing in the background? If the latter, who are they & what are they after?

3) What is going to happen with #TPLF e.g. is Abiy going to now have different means & power to challenge TPLF? 3/7
