A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away… US Presidents went to China and said, “We welcome the rise of China!”
Then a couple of years ago, they said, “We are not trying to contain China.”
Now, the containment policy is official & in the open!
But how does it work exactly?
The US is waging a multidimensional hybrid war that involves attacks on China’s:
🔹Economy
🔹Technology
🔹Soft Power
🔹Diplomatic Power
🔹Belt and Road Initiative
🔹Internal Stability
🔹National Security
🔹Military
🔹Currency
And so on.
USA always believed that China’s economy could not last — you know, communism and all. So, the Americans welcomed China into WTO. However, after the 2008 financial crisis, the U.S. seriously started planning for a containment policy.
It involved external and internal threats
External: Recruiting India to counter China. The second was to place missile defense systems in South Korea.
Internal: Stirring up Uyghur separatists. Later bringing them to Syria get trained with Al Qaeda. The plan was to send them back to Xinjiang.
External threats have expanded a lot since then with
🔹formation of QUAD,
🔹having EU and NATO deem China as a threat, and
🔹militarisation of Japan
As for the attack on the economy, trade wars and tariffs were tried for the last five years, but have failed spectacularly.
Hence the targeted attacks on China’s high-tech industries —semiconductors.
Attack on China’s soft power includes a large circus of Presstitutes who churn out anti-China articles every day.
Social media influencers who spread anti-China viral videos & fake news are also key players.
Banning Confucius Institutes, censoring Chinese media also pivotal
Curbing China’s diplomatic power has been somewhat successful in Europe and extremely successful India.
Europeans who are not lobotomized now realize that being both anti-Russia and anti-China is 100% suicidal.
However, in Latin America, Africa, ASEAN etc., China is doing ok
In Belt and Road countries, 70% of the people have positive views about China.
And in the UN, China is playing the diplomatic game better than the US.
Chinese officials practise old-school diplomacy - respect, persuasion through win-win ideas etc.
To summarize, US efforts have failed in majority of the areas.
Technology and external threats are the only two arrows left in the quiver.
The containment war will intensify over the next few years.
BTW, even the proxy war on Russia is really a war on China.
So, let’s see how it goes. So far, China has handled this extraordinary hybrid war quite well…

For 1000s of years, humans respected nature. Science developed as a tool to study nature.
However, by the 20th century, capitalist greed started demonizing nature. Why? Corporations could make $$$ by substituting nature with their products.
Food and medicine are great examples
There are countless examples. For example, the traditional healthy European bread was replaced by the nasty sliced bread.
“Refined” flour has become the norm all over the world now.
Another example is the replacement of healthy butter, tallow etc. with utterly toxic fats like Crisco and margarine, or unhealthy “vegetable” oils like Canola and soy oil.
Many Americans and Indians waste a lot of time on China-related “Copium” — constantly dreaming of bad things happening to Chinese economy, politics or the people.
Short 🧵 on why this is foolish and detrimental.
First, your track record has been abysmal. Every gloom-and-doom prediction has been wrong.
For 25 years, Americans have been talking about the imminent collapse of China or the CPC/CCP. So, take a pause.
What’s that definition of insanity?
China has accomplished an economic miracle that has never been achieved in human history. So, give some respect to your competitor.
Staggering 45,000% GDP growth in 30 years (1991-2021).
So, if you’re playing football against Argentina, don’t treat it like the Bahamas.
Benefits of urbanization are obvious — higher productivity, more efficiency, better services like education & healthcare, more employees for corporations, more employers for people, more consumers etc.
But it also requires tremendous planning and investment by the government.
Urban planning is kinda like rocket science. A holistic field that has to integrate hard sciences (like infrastructure) with soft sciences (lifestyle and convenience).
