Many are blaming the current coup on humanity on concentrated power and centralisation. So what does a decentralised response look like?
Each individual, each grassroots organisation, each doctor, each lawyer, each teacher.... take on the responsibility to respond. 1/
We each have the power to create change.
We each have our sphere of influence.
We are the citizens of the world. We have great potential. We can build a movement for a better world. 2/ greatcitizensmovement.org/about-the-decl…
Here's a challenge by Prof Michaela Schippers- Professor of Behaviour and Performance Management- Rotterdam School Of Management - Erasmus University 3/ @mc_schippers
Write two letters:
[Address them to yourself] 1) ‘what does the future look like when current events continue unchanged?’ 4/
Try to reflect on these items in your writing 5/ @mc_schippers
"Close your eyes and think about the ideal future you wish for the world when there are no obstacles. Define some goals for yourself and/or the world."
Make a list of the things that bother you and that you would like to see changed. 7/ @mc_schippers
Take the ‘Great Citizens pledge’ is "a personal statement that describes what you will do in the upcoming time to make the world a better place and to get closer towards the ideal world you have in mind." 8/ @mc_schippers
We deserve a world where our core values are honoured Freedom
Humanness
Wisdom 10/
We deserve a world where our human needs are met 11/ @mc_schippers
We deserve a world where our human rights are upheld:
- to live
- to pursue purpose, goals and happiness
- to be fairly treated
- to be a free and sovereign person
- to choose freely a religion
- to have the right of freedom of speech
12/
We deserve a world where we have agency to determine our future.
"Holacracy refers to a way of organizing characterized by radical decentralization of authority, distributed decision making and a lack of hierarchy." 14/
Now my thoughts
Think of the response as a healing process... 1) heal yourself & your family
Deal with any personal issues that block you
Build win-win relationships with your family members and friends
Take actions to improve your health & wellbeing and that of your family 15/
2) Heal your community
Determine your strengths- How can you contribute to society given your skill set and the resources available to you? Trust that every contribution matters!!!
16/
Here are some ideas...
Join grassroots groups aligned with your mission in life
Reconnect with people
Cut out the SMALL TALK and do some BIG TALK with your friends and colleagues at work
Participate in local committees
Be part of the parent board in your kids school ...
17/
3) Heal your country & your world
Participate in political life (This is not the business of politicians. The future of our children is our business.)
Do your homework before you elect a representative
then hold them accountable if they fail to meet your expectations.

Great things happened in history when individuals believed in their power to make a difference.
Three tactics to deal with worries that are outside your locus of control 1. cognitive defusion 2. scheduled worry time 3. mindfulness
(For worries that are within your locus of control, try brainstorming, problem solving, asking for advice, taking action)
@TherapyNutshell

1. Practice cognitive defusion
LEAVES ON A STREAM: anchor your negative thoughts on leaves and watch them pass down a stream of water
2/4
2. Schedule worry time:
Set a specific time in your schedule to worry for 15-30 minutes!! (choose a specific place for worrying)
Make a list of your worries as they arise during the day and redirect them to your scheduled worry time
This exercise helps set brain boundries. It helps your brain delay worrying and shift your attention back to what you need to do now.

I wish people would stop making ignorant comments about the Israeli-Palestinan crisis and would watch these presentations by five experts from different backgrounds shining a light on the underlying forces behind the ongoing genocide in Gaza. 1/ 🧵
Professor Richard Falk- International Law
@ 5:10
"All the evidence we have points to the fact that the October 7th Hamas attack served as a pretext for the completion of the Zionist project by the dispossession by Israelis of Palestinians living not only in Gaza but in the West Bank which has experienced unrestricted settler violence in this period and has suffered unusually severe casualties during this time."
"The claim of self-defence is particularly weak because Gaza and the West Bank are occupied territories and under the administrative responsibilities of Israel as the occupying power since 1967. Israel has not implemented the unanimous Security Council Resolution 242 back in 1967 which called upon it to withdraw to the 67 borders." Professor Richard Falk
An offender cannot claim self-defence.
2/
The undeclared objectives of the destruction of Gaza by Professor Atif Kubursi:
@ 37:52 1. The control of gas in the Levant Basin by Israel 2. Americans want an alternative to the Suez canal 3. Americans want an alternative to the Silk road: India-Dubai-Europe bypassing Iran, Syria and Egypt

“You can take back your power by taking responsibility over your health, your life & your world. By focusing on your contribution & your circle of influence, you can create a + ripple effect ”

Lockdowns forced technology into schools at warp speed… online math homework, google classrooms, zoom parent-teacher meetings…
Lockdowns were necessary for wider market penetration of big tech into education 1/ 🧵
It’s the dream of companies like Apple…
Does every child in primary school need to own an iPad to learn at school? Is this good for the child or for a apple? 2/ apple.com/ae/education/k…
Microsoft also has plans to transform education.
Technology is very important but how it’s used is critical.
Can parents know if their kids are doing their homework when they have to search for information on google or do their math homework online? 3/

State medical licensing: is it needed to ensure quality or is it a means of state control?
Given that many doctors during the pandemic who spoke against harmful covid measures were threatened to lose their license, this is an issue we ought to address... @P_McCulloughMD

Milton Friedman says: the Hippocratic oath was the 1st labour union agreement. He argues that labour union serve more established members of a union and controls entry of new members. 2/
For example:
In his opinion, minimum wage protects the union members from competition from the lower & lessor skilled workers (preventing their entry into the workforce & upward mobility). Such policies are done in the name of the poor but don't benefit them
