Happy New Years to our friends and supporters! Here's a quick 🧵 outlining some good news from this year.
1/UK: the Tavistock gender clinic, deemed unfit for purpose by the Cass Review, was ordered to close. Gender-distressed minors will now be treated in regular children’s hospitals w/a whole-person, developmental approach to gender dysphoria.
2/SWEDEN: psychological interventions will now be the first line of treatment for gender-distressed minors. Medical transition can only take place in clinical research settings. Half of the pediatric gender clinics in the country were closed.
3/US: following an independent systematic review of the evidence and a public hearing which included many #detransitioners, the Florida Boards of Medicine voted to stop the medical transition of minors outside of research settings in the state.
5/FRANCE: The National Academy of Medicine in France warned its medical community about the explosion of trans identification in vulnerable youth, prioritized non-invasive treatment.
6/AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND: the Royal College of Psychiatrists acknowledged that gender dysphoria in youth arises from many different causes and can be resolved with non-invasive approaches.
7/UK: Mermaids is going down. Exposed for safeguarding violations & shady staff, the org is now under investigation by the charity commission. Mermaids’ CEO Susie Green, who famously took her child to Thailand for a vaginoplasty on the child’s 16th birthday, has resigned.
8/US: The 1st lawsuits by detranstioners against their providers have been filed. Bravo, @ChoooCole and @GetBetterTweets.

1. The unreserved voice of @wesyang added much to our discussion of gender ideology. We thank him for sharing the many personal stories via: wesleyyang.substack.com Here is a just a sampling.
2.The tragic story of Yaeli’s suicide & the contribution of CA family court that ruled Martinez was an abusive parent, placing Yaeli in foster care, stating that the 12-year old was competent to manage her own medical care. wesleyyang.substack.com/p/nobody-wants…
3. Abel Garcia’s story of receiving “gender affirming” hormone treatment on his very first visit. Abel’s story is consistent with so many other detransitioners who were simply affirmed with no assessment or therapeutic intervention. wesleyyang.substack.com/p/i-realized-t…
1/New stats on Dutch gender clinic: Until 2010- avg 200 patients/yr- around 60 children & young people.
-Around 2013- the number suddenly doubles and from that moment the line goes up steeply.
-2022- almost 6k on the waiting list, more than 5k in treatment- 1,600 minors.
2/The 2006 Dutch study which outlined the approach which became the "Dutch protocol" was sponsored by Ferring pharmacauticals, who market Triptorelin- a puberty blocker. (Genspect recalls @Transgendertrd's remarks about this in 2018: transgendertrend.com/puberty-blocke…)
🧵US: BREAKING NEWS: The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) says they are dropping their pediatric gender clinics. The hospital will no longer provide "gender affirming" medical interventions on minors. live5news.com/2022/12/16/mus…
MUSC released the following statements:
"-MUSC Health has worked diligently to make sure that we are in compliance with the 2022-2023 Appropriations Act and proviso 23.4 and will do the same with any future legislative requirements/directives.
-MUSC Health does not have a dedicated pediatric/adolescent transgender endocrine clinic.
-MUSC Health no longer provides pediatric/adolescent transgender hormonal care.
-MUSC Health does not offer gender-altering surgery.
Brilliant piece:
“WPATH have moved from being a professional organization that tried to provide appropriate clinical treatment to help trans people to being a trans activist lobby group who believe that healthcare should be driven by consumerism..."1/7 reduxx.info/academics-invo…
"..rather than by clinical considerations," @stellaomalley3 told Reduxx.
“Johnson and Wassersug clearly have an inappropriate and unhealthy desire to normalize fetishes and this view has evidently infiltrated WPATH [Standards of Care] SOC 8."
2/7
"At Genspect, we believe in a free society but we also believe that clinical care should be driven by clinical considerations,” @stellaomalley3 explained.
“Normalizing fetishes is driven by a political & cultural agenda & disregards the harm that fetishistic disorder can cause"
THREAD: FLORIDA MEETING, part 2- after break. Dr. Hunter: social transition starts kids on the path of medical transition. This should be included in the "enhanced consent" that is being proposed.
Dr. Diamond: proposes blockers & hormones are only allowed for minors in IRB-approved, longitudinal trials in which parents & kids give consent. Dr Hunter: must be tracked well into adulthood. Dr Diamond: this motion only applies to minors- we cant mandate adult follow up.
Panel member: On the issue of behavioral health and psychiatric diagnosis, maybe 2 professional evaluations should be required?
🧵 GENSPECT LIVE TWEETS from Florida Department of Health Board of Medicine meeting/workshop on RULE NO.64B8-9.019- "Practice Standards for the Treatment of Gender Dysphoria."
1st presenter: Dr. Michael Biggs of Oxford University UK reviews the scant research on puberty blockers. Biggs notes that the long term outcomes of the original cohort of puberty-blocked kids in holland has still not been published.
Biggs explains puberty blockers' impact on emotional & cognitive development, and how they cause difficulty and complexity with future vaginoplasty surgeries. They also destroy patient's libido and their ability to orgasm.
