Spent the first day of the year 2023 at Disneyland. Daytime crowds were unusually sparser, probably from all the New Years Eve hangovers and the fact that it had been pouring rain from 12/31 until the AMs, but evening regained the usual crowd strength even with the dip to 45F
It was an all-day masked indoors-outdoors marathon in @flo_mask and @masklabglobal KF series masks! I got pretty dented by the time I got home, but I'm full of churros and Mickey pretzels, so that helps
My months-long shipment of random net and lace came in recently, so I was happy to be able to wander with a newly clothed @flo_mask mask for the new year. It's not at all a shade match for the decal, but good enough for me for right now
It's fun to be able to break up the white expanse of the @flo_mask filter with some contrast. The challenge is to find what works within this bean lozenge shape window.
*Possible that sandwiching compromises the clamp of the filter, but not sure by how much.
Haunted Mansion at Disneyland ventilation of CO2 is generally at around 800ppm, but when you file through the crowded elevator and indoor underground waiting room, it shoots to 1166 ppm. As soon as the ceilings open up it drops to 818ppm and then 541 ppm at exit via #Aranet4
Pirates of the Carribean at Disneyland stays at around 745 ppm CO2 in the ride as the ceilings are high and wind effects strong. At the end of the ride by the doors it is 664ppm. The line waiting area connected to indoor Blue Bayou restaurant dining are ~ 825 ppm via #Aranet4
Obviously, even when outdoors you do take a chance going to Disneyland when standing in any ride line for any amount of time as you're generally packed quite close to others, and masking is a crapshoot. But some are more open and ventilated than others.
Paying $30 for the Genie+ add-on might actually help not just from a time angle but also an safety angle to limit time exposure in crowds. The correlation between access to $$$ and access to safety is uncomfortable, esp after the $175 admission ($0 to me as guest of cast member)
The @masklabglobal masks were among gifts that I gave my two friends today. They saw how cute they were, put them on immediately, wore them all day, thanked me after, saying they felt acutely aware of many coughing folks today. Aesthetic matters! #MaskUp

Currently stuck on the 805 freeway hurriedly impromptu making @Comic_Con freebie mask swag to give out
My bag is gonna look like this. I'm just going to carry about 15 boxes and a bunch of masks for now
Gave away all 25 masks I brought for today! Masks are easier to get people to take as I just find someone who already is masking and they're usually very happy to have one offered, but offering tests feels weird.

I finally added a battery to my @SmartAirFilters QT3 using this brilliant hack from @CC14_CC14. It really just takes a small jeweler's file against the lid to make the edit. (Also remember to file an opening into the resting lip on the actual unit, too)
I made my wiring hole to the right of that little center clasp out of laziness. (It is indeed haphazard, I'll file it flush later)
I bought the same T-CORE battery. Wow is it satisfying to be able to actually close the lid on it. #perfectfit inside that qt3 air purifier compartment. TY for your service in figuring that out
Been hanging out at home in a @flo_mask. My parents are wondering why I won't eat with them and I take my food alone. I was at Disneyland all day 2 days ago and I personally feel it's too soon! My 5 day incubation really freaked me out.
I can't control if they give it to me, but I'm still on that quest to *never* be the one to give it to them and so far I've been successful. Most Maskingest Streak still going
I cook with them and set the table but I set my portion right into a tray I just drag behind a door. Then I go back after I'm done to hang out and watch TV while masked.
The fear that I have is not only that I'll get covid but more that I'm the one whose fault it was that someone else got it. So when I mask up, I mask HARD to make a whole point that I'm the Most Maskingest B*tch in this room so it's not my fault you can't blame me
To some extent it's Mask theater: so if Grandma so-and-so gets it and goes under the ventilator this season, then just look at how my mask was this much bigger than the rest of you weak excuses for descendants who couldn't even put up a single mask to spare Grandma
I cannot believe the amount of drama caterwauling over temporary mask discomfort when our ancestors endurance-marched, starving, to escape death and destruction of their entire villages and clans to survive, and you can't even just simply sit down while masked
