Force the Vote - a 🧵:
The #ForceTheVote strategy works. Had so-called progressive leaders like @AOC and pundits like @cenkuygur supported it, instead of lying and gaslighting us, we'd be in a very different place right now.

The lie that "if it's not going to pass, don't bring it up for a vote" regarding Medicare for All represents ignorance of how transformational legislation is passed.

It ALWAYS fails the first time. That's what happened with the women's vote and with civil rights. Bringing these bills to the floor for votes allows public pressure and momentum to build, that's how they eventually pass.

And in the meantime, it forces representatives who say they support Medicare for All to go on the record and vote for or against.

While this is happening, so-called progressive representatives and pundits could have used the time to educate the American people and rally them to pressure respresentatives on a bill the people already overwhelmingly support.

Pundits like Cenk and reps like AOC know this, and that's why they didn't do it. They got their talking points and marching orders from the millionaires and billlionaires who control the Dem Party: Private insurance stays, Medicare for All never gets a vote.

Nancy Pelosi was in charge of the entire House, and she has publicly and privately come out as firmly against Medicare for All. Do you really think she didn't bring it up for a straight up or down vote because she was afraid it would fail??

No. They all knew that once the fight was taken public that momentum would build and those who stood against Medicare for All would be outed. The Democratic Party itself would be outed as being opposed to universal healthcare.

Just so we know what was on the line here, 68K Americans die every year because we don't have Medicare for All. That's over 800K dead Americans since the ACA was passed.

In addition 1/3 of all COVID deaths were due to not having Medicare for All. That's an additional 400K ppl. So over 1 million dead in a dozen years because Dems won't support universal care.

It is not lost on me that the #FTV movement started in Dec of 2020, right before the pandemic hit. So many lives could have been saved had The Squad and the fake-progressive media actually stood up for American workers.

It is also not lost on me that @jimmy_dore, who championed this movement, has been villified and attacked ever since. Make no mistake, the forces behind these attacks are the same forces that support big pharma and big insurance and they have spent alot of time and money on this.

And as far as Dore goes, he was 100% right on Force the Vote. As far as this issue goes that's all that matters. If supposed leftists wanted a "better" spokesperson, they need to ask themselves why folks like Cenk, AOC and Sam Seder dropped the ball and attacked the FTV movement.

Nine of them showed up for a Town Hall that drew over 100K. This matters because here we are 2 years later, tons of unnecessary deaths later, and Republicans just showed everyone that withholding votes from something like a vote for the Speaker of the House does actually work.

Dems didn't fight for us. Supposed leftists attacked us. In the middle of a deadly pandemic, those who have made their careers out of pretending to care for regular, working Americans showed us their true colors: they work for our oppressors, and they all got richer.

*None of them showed up to the Town Hall. Zero. Not nine.
