The Twitter Files threads have not revealed much of anything consequential. What's far more significant about them is what they do not talk at all about:
-Saudi Arabia
-China
-Any country besides US
-Private communications by Elon Musk with heads of state and other politicians
Musk's ties to Chinese and Saudi governments are far more extensive than anything talked about in the Twitter files. He desperately doesn't want people to know how dependent he is on these two adversaries of the U.S.
There are a number of serious issues regarding Saudi Arabia and the previous Twitter management. An ex-Twitter employee with privileged access to user account data was convicted & sentenced to 3 years of prison for his Saudi spying. news.yahoo.com/former-twitter…
What the Saudi royal family, Twitter's second largest shareholders, directly did with spying on citizens is far more serious than FBI complaining about lies about when to vote. But since Elon is desperate for Saudi cash, he will never, ever release these #TwitterFiles
I got bored of the poor writing and research behind the Twitter Files ages ago, but to my knowledge, they have not talked one bit about the Trump White House directly asking for tweet removals. Instead they talk about Biden campaign complaining. The rw bias is obvious.
I think that giant social media sites should be more transparent, but the Twitter Files so far are pure right-wing propaganda, designed to misinform by severely constraining what is revealed. If Musk were truly transparent, he'd release all the data to everyone. He won't. /end

Thread: Obsolete men's pop culture has left men to fend for themselves in a world that's rapidly changed.

This is a summary of the latest @TheoryChange episode featuring @BrandonLBradfor.

The world is a very different place since the 1960s, especially in regards to heterosexual dating. Despite the continual resistance from the far-right, women have options on marriage, sex, and pregnancy. And now, society is finally beginning to push back on sexual harassment.
As a result, a lot of the old "tricks" that might have at least sometimes worked in dating are obsolete for men.

Separately, many men's economic situation, particularly those without privileged social networks has become precarious. "Deaths of despair" have skyrocketed.

1/x: At a time when centrist media are talking about how much better "mainstream conservatives" are than people like Matt Gaetz, it's worth noting that the supposed mainstream right believes that civil rights laws are morally wrong bc they might endanger fundamentalist religion.
Because corporate media MUST have a conservative perspective included at all times, they constantly are on the lookout for anyone who portrays themselves as such. But overwhelmingly, the U.S. right is anti-conservative. It wants to roll back rather than preserve the status quo.
There are actual conservatives in American politics, but most of them are the people who call themselves "centrists" these days.

Conservatives to want to keep things the way they were when they were young w/only a few tweaks. Wanting to go to the 20s or 50s is reactionary.

Fox News is such a Kevin McCarthy/Republican shill operation that McCarthy's failure to win Speaker of the House is not the top story on its site.

According to Fox, McCarthy's failure rates as less important than a celebrity bikini shot and two stories about a football player.
Obviously an NFL player collapsing on live TV during a game is national news, but it is not more important than the Speaker of the House vote. CNN and MSNBC showed better priorities.
Even Newsmax is less biased than Fox in this instance.

The biggest way Fox brainwashes its audiences is by withholding negative information about Republicans.

🧵Millennials aren't moving rightward as they've aged, unlike Gen X, Boomers, & Silents. This is a good piece on the trend, but it doesn't note that the WW2 generation had a similar left loyalty.

The common factor? Both gens got screwed by oligarchs archive.is/20221230225501…
I dislike the term "Greatest Generation," but for a look at their voting patterns and partisanship, this is a pretty good overview. Even in their twilight years, they wouldn't vote for Republicans. Because they saw the world the GOP wants to go back to. pewresearch.org/politics/2015/…
What calls itself "the conservative movement" in this country was created by manufacturing oligarchs who wanted to repeal the 1930s New Deal. This is not an exaggeration.

These ideas undergird all right wing jurisprudence pfaw.org/blog-posts/how…

NEW: In just-released #Jan6Committee testimony, @Alyssafarah blasts "liar and opportunist" Kayleigh McEnany and other top Republicans for pretending Trump won in 2020 in order to help their careers.

My latest for @TYTreports: tyt.com/reports/7015be…
According to Griffin, almost everyone in the Trump White House knew that Biden won fairly in 2020 but once Trump started constructing his lie campaign to illegally remain in office, they decided to help out anyway. tyt.com/reports/7015be…
"She wanted a certain life post-Trump and that required staying in his good graces," Griffin said of McEnany.

"It worked out precisely how she'd always planned for it to, but she knew better." ImageImage

1/x: Multiple South American outlets report that Jair Bolsonaro won't attend the 1/1 inauguration ceremony of his successor Lula da Silva.

Instead, he will travel to spend the next several weeks w/fellow loser, Donald Trump. Almost like a failed wannabe dictator support group…
Bolsonaro, who must be copying the idea from Trump's pouting refusal to attend Joe Biden's inauguration, will be the first Brazilian president since the end of military rule in 1985 to refuse to hand over the ceremonial presidential sash to his successor. noticias.uol.com.br/colunas/thais-…
You can bet that if Trump had managed to criminally hold onto office or actually have been re-elected that Bolsonaro would also have tried to cling to power illegally like Trump did leading up to #January6th.

Instead, they'll be eating cheeseburgers and crying together…
