🧵 It's been a year since the terrible #Colleyville Synagogue hostage crisis.
#OTD (Jan 15, 2022), a gunman entered the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in #Colleyville, Texas, during a Sabbath service.
The gunman’s rants were recorded over the video stream. He warned that he would kill people unless authorities released his “sister” (Aafia Siddiqui). #Colleyville
Aafia Siddiqui is serving an 86-year sentence after being convicted of attempting to kill American military personnel in Afghanistan.
She had made racist comments against Jews and Zionists while on trial in 2010. #Colleyville
BREAKING🚨
Palestinian journalist Shatha Hammad has been stripped of her journalism award by the Thomson Reuters Foundation after we exposed her vile Facebook posts about Hitler, including those where she expressed her support for the Holocaust.
She will no longer appear alongside @amanpour at the Reuters conference in London this month or receive $5,000 prize money
The Thomson Reuters Foundation @TRF and the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund must be commended on their swift and decisive response. In a joint statement they said they said they were forced to take this step to protect the integrity of the awards.
Is it really so hard to say "Palestinian shooting attack," or a least "suspected Palestinian shooting attack" @CNN?
Time after time, headlines excise the Palestinians' role in terror attacks.
It's not as if there's any real doubt that this was a terror attack. As the article itself states, nine paragraphs down.
And then there's this deplorable section, in which the "possible eviction of Palestinian eviction of Palestinian families from their homes triggered weeks of unrest."
No, it did not. What happened was unprecedented and not at all expected.
Article in today's @WashingtonPost largely overlooks the reason why the IDF has embarked on this initiative: Repeated stabbings, shootings and other attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians, often in Hebron.
See this incident, for example. Hebron, 2016. A Palestinian suspect stands next to soldiers at a checkpoint. He is asked to show his ID, but instead produces a knife and attempts to stab the soldiers.
This is far from the only incident in which soldiers' lives were put at risk during a routine ID check at a checkpoint in Hebron.
