Interesting & entertaining game ended in a deserved draw as Almeria are rewarded for thier brave play & Atleti weren’t at their best but still had chances as they drop points in the battle for top 4.

First Half Almeria were very good started positively being brave on the ball in build up using it well with good energy responded strongly to going 0-1 down putting Atleti under a lot of pressure especially the player who is on the ball it doesn’t matter who playing high up the..

Pitch to not allow Atleti to get any time or rhythm.

Almeria didn’t create lots of chance but the best one they had they took Robertones fantastic in swinging cross he had all the time in the world to pick out Toure who showed amazing desire to get in at the far post & head…

Home from close range.

Atletico started okay showing a bit of attacking intent & good play until they took the lead with the first meaningful attack from either side.

Kongdogbia pass was dummied brilliantly by Griezmann into the path of Correa who nutmegged Fernando to score.

As the half went on they struggled to cope with the quality & intensity of Almeria play they dropped deeper while not really carrying a threat in transition. They didn’t use the ball well enough to get any form of contact & Simone changed to a back 3/5 this seemed to confuse some

Of the Atleti players.

Also without Morata up front Oblak & the Atleti defenders didn’t want to play long even though at times it was their best system they tried then to play out from the back but individuals like Witsel & Oblak made a few mistakes.

Second Half
Almeria continued mostly from where they left off being brave dominating possession using it well carrying a threat while attacking not as much when Toure
was subbed off didn’t have many clear chances but certainly caused Atleti problems as the game opened up & fully.

Deserved the point they earned.

Better quality & decision making in the final third might have been the difference but it’s an important point in their battle to stay in LaLiga.

Atleti struggled to get going made a slow start to the Second Half.

Atleti improved when Morata.

Came on particularly having a focal point up front that when they broke forward they could put crosses into the box Morata had a couple of wonderful chances from those situations one was headed wide the another was a left footed volley saved brilliantly by Fernando.

Also Fernando made another fantastic save to deny Correa when the game was opening up.

Regulion was sent off for 2 yellows in quick succession that had 10 men for the remaining minutes but it was too late to have an impact on the game.
