Trans rights are still under attack in the United States. Please visit our website linked below to learn about your state and contact your reps. Today, there are 5 moved bills, 6 new anti-trans bills, and 3 GOOD bills! Here's a thread of today's updates 🧵 ⬇️
Today in healthcare bills: 1. Utah SB0016 had a Health and Human Services Committee Hearing at 4pm EST; 2. Utah HB132 was sent to the Rules Committee 3. Nebraska introduced LB574.
Healthcare bills go against professional and scientific consensus that gender affirming care saves lives. Denying access will cause harm. Providers are faced with criminal charges, parents are threatened with child abuse charges, and intersex children are typically exempted.
In birth certificate bills: 1. Tennessee introduced HB0239, a "sex designation act" defining sex as biological, assigned at birth, binary, and immutable.
Birth certificate bills try to make it harder for trans folks to have ID match their gender identity. They tend to force a male or female designation based upon sex assigned at birth. Some ban a non-binary “X” marker or require surgery to update a birth certificate.
It's a big day for schooling/parental rights bills: 1. Connecticut SB00468 was introduced & referred to the Joint Judiciary Committee. 2. Iowa SF83 was introduced & referred to the Senate Education Committee.
3. Indiana HB1407 was introduced & referred to the House Family, Children, and Human Affairs Committee. 4. Indiana HB1346 was introduced & referred to the House Education Committee 5. Missouri SB497 was introduced. 6. Utah SB0100 was introduced.
Schooling bills force schools to misgender or deadname students, ban instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity, and make schools alert parents if they suspect a child is trans. They remove life-saving affirmation and support for trans youth. #ProtectTransKids
Today in sports bans: 1. Wyoming SF0133 was introduced. 2. Nebraska LB573 was introduced.
Most sports bills force schools to designate teams by sex assigned at birth. They are often one-sided and ban trans girls from playing on teams consistent with their gender identity. Some egregious bills even force invasive genital examinations on student athletes.
We have an update on Drag Ban Nebraska LB371 which prohibits an individual under 19/21 years of age from being present at a drag show. It was referred to the Legislature Judiciary Committee.
Drag bans restrict access for folks who are gender non-conforming in any way. They loosely define drag as any public performance with an “opposite gender expression”, as sexual in nature, and inappropriate for children. This also pushes trans individuals out of public spaces.
There's an update on North Dakota HB1205, which bans "explicit books," and defines books mentioning sexual orientation or gender identity as explicit. This bill had a hearing at 9:30 this morning and we're waiting on updates.
We have a positive update to report: A gender codifying bill North Dakota SB2199 has failed committee.
It's not too late to stop these and other hateful anti-trans bills from passing into law. You can go to transformationsproject.org to learn more and contact your representatives. #TransRights

It's another day for both pro- and anti-trans legislative updates for trans folks in the U.S. Here's a very brief thread of today's updates, starting with bills restricting trans rights. 🧵
OK SB129 Would make it a felony to provide any 'gender transition procedure' to anyone under twenty-six years old. This would forcibly detransition every trans person in the state under that age. As usual, this restriction does not extend to intersex individuals.
MO HB540 Would ban gender affirming care for anyone under 18 (except for intersex people) and withold publilc funds from any individual, entity, or org that provides such services.

Today we are sharing both pro- and anti-trans legislative updates for trans folks in the U.S. Here's a very brief thread of today's updates, starting with bills restricting trans rights. 🧵⬇️
KY HB30 (1/3) an "emergency" bathroom bill, is being sent to committee. This describes transgender youth as predators and effectively bans them from using school restrooms, locker rooms, and shower rooms.
MT SB99 (1/3) filed and referred to Senate Public Health, Welfare, & Safety committee, a health care ban bill that would also attack public funds. This bill would medically detransition all transgender youth in the state & represents an enormous threat to trans youth in Montana.

Alaska HB140 has a hearing scheduled for 4/29 @ 1:30pm Alaskan time, the requirement for a hearing notification has been waived. This is another anti-trans sports bill based on "biological sex", but without any clear definition on how that would be defined.
Missouri HB1973 has officially passed the House today(4/28). The anti-trans sports bill would require school athletics to limit participation based on sex designation on their birth certificate.

Missouri HB1973 has been perfected with amendments and has passed the House. The anti-trans sports bill would require school athletics to limit participation based on sex designation on their birth certificate.
Tennessee SB2777 was to be addressed today but was not. This bill may be dead and we will continue to watch it. This bill explicitly allows school professionals to deadname and misgender trans students in their care and protects them from legal or workspace consequences
