Once again, the #Boulder Police Oversight Panel Ordinence clearly states, “members of the police oversight panel shall be volunteers who, immediately prior to appointment, shall demonstrate: an absence of any real or perceived bias…”

Those who don’t want to accept the law will tell you this is about #Boulder citizens being “pro-police,” or that the police chief is orchestrating this, or even that the police are managing their own oversight panel. These are red herrings. 6/

If all of this were happening it would indeed be problematic, but it would still be beside the point that @lsweeneymiran can’t be on the POP board because she is an abolitionist and that is in direct conflict with the ordinance of the panel. 7/

In addition, the primary concern of #Boulder city council cannot be to worry about whether or not the POP will be able to achieve quorum. That’s absolutely problematic and the POP needs to get on track post haste but it’s secondary to the legal matter at hand. 8/

When the ethics committee reviews this complaint in the coming weeks, they will not be looking at the recent editorials that have flawed premises, wild conjecture, and malice towards those who disagree with them. 9/

They won’t even be looking at people who favor having @lsweeneymiran off the POP panel. They will only be looking at the law. 10/
