🧵 Today, is the 50th Anniversary of the 1973 #RoeVWade decision. Last year, we faced a major setback in the fight for reproductive freedom in this country. But we didn’t give up; We fought like hell to defend abortion access and protect reproductive freedom in Michigan.
Before Roe was overturned, I filed a lawsuit with the Michigan Supreme Court asking them to protect abortion access in Michigan. On the day of the Dobbs decision, I filed a motion to have the court immediately consider the case.

The following month, I signed an Executive Directive instructing state employees to identify opportunities to increase protections for reproductive healthcare and access to contraception.
Alongside @MichiganHHS, we launched a public effort to educate Michiganders and health care providers on the difference between emergency contraception and medication abortion.
Over the following months, we continued to fight like hell. In July, I issued an Executive Order refusing to extradite women or health care providers who come to Michigan seeking reproductive freedom.
August was a big month. We:

✅ Won a preliminary injunction on the 1931 abortion ban
✅ Expanded access to contraception to 200,000 Michiganders
✅ Called on big tech to protect data privacy of those seeking abortions
Our fight isn't finished yet. I am ready to work with the legislature to repeal Michigan’s dangerous 1931 abortion ban and take meaningful steps to defend reproductive freedom for all Michiganders.

On Veterans Day, we thank our fellow Americans who served our nation in uniform. Today, we honor them and commit ourselves to ensuring they can thrive with economic opportunity, education, housing, and health care. 🧵
Veterans like Mike, a retired Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major. It’s been his passion to support veterans and increase awareness of their needs. He's spent much of his time over the last several years working to increase veteran services & support throughout the state. Mikes headshot

Tomorrow is Election Day, Michigan!

I want to make sure you have the latest nonpartisan election information and recommendations from @MichSoS. Along with their office, I am committed to ensuring this election is safe and secure, and that your voice is heard.👇
Voters who have received but not yet returned their absentee ballot should:
✅ Hand deliver it to their clerk’s office or secure local drop box.
❌ To avoid possible U.S. Postal Service delays, mailing ballots this close to Election Day is not recommended.
All ballots must be received at clerk offices or drop boxes by 8 p.m. on Election Day or they will not be counted. Voters must bring their ballot to a drop box in their jurisdiction.

Drop box locations can be found at Michigan.gov/Vote.

My thoughts are with the students, teachers, staff, and families of Oxford High. I hope this outcome offers them some peace after last year’s horrific shooting.
I want to thank @OCPOMcDonald for her hard work on this case, all the first responders and local law enforcement officials who responded to and investigated the shooting, and the countless community leaders who brought the community together to heal.
I'm grateful to the Michigan Legislature for their collaboration on bipartisan legislation to invest additional resources into Oxford Community Schools to help them hire mental health professionals, enhance security, and additional learning time in the wake of the tragedy.

As a former prosecutor, public safety is a top priority for me. That's why today, I'm proud to announce The Public Safety Academy Assistance Program to help address the critical need for additional police officers by reducing or eliminating the cost of basic police training.
Under this program:
✔️ $30 million in funding
✔️ Agencies may receive up to 25 scholarships over the course of the program
✔️ Law enforcement agencies are eligible for up to $4,000 per recruit for salaries & benefits
✔️ Up to $20,000 for academy tuition & other training costs
I will work with anyone to ensure state and local law enforcement agencies have the resources, personnel, and training they need to keep our communities safe.

I urge agencies to apply for these grants to lower the cost of tuition and training for recruits.

Today, we're coming together to celebrate several huge investments in Michigan’s manufacturing future. Earlier today, we took action to bring nearly $4 billion in investment and create 4,607 jobs right here in Michigan.
This includes:

💰 $2.36 billion from Gotion, creating 2,350 jobs in Big Rapids.
💰 $1.6 billion from Our Next Energy, creating 2,112 jobs in Van Buren Twp.
💰Infrastructure investment in Ottawa and Muskegon Counties allowing Fairlife to expand creating 145 jobs.
We brought these projects across the finish line thanks to the hardworking team at @MEDC, local partners, and the bipartisan economic development legislation I signed last December.

It really was a Team Michigan effort.

In the last year alone, we secured projects from GM, Ford, and LG Energy Solution to build the future of mobility and electrification in Michigan, maintaining our automotive edge.
We opened high-tech science facilities from Wacker, Pfizer, and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams to advance our R&D leadership.
We won investments from SK Siltron, KLA, and Hemlock Semiconductor bringing the high-tech semiconductor supply chain home, cutting down costly delays and shortages.
