2/9 The country where strong bonds are synonymous with "Fevicol ka mazboot jod'' and Fevicol is synonymous with all adhesives in general, the name doesn't sound surprising.
But the fact is indeed surprising that Fevicol is veg!
3/9 Our story begins in the 1940s when a Gujarati man Balvant Parekh, working in a business of wood works noticed that the then market leading glues used in carpentry were not very effective.
4/9 In those days, the only decent option in the market was Mavicol– a German based brand of adhesives which used animal fat-based materials in their glues.
5/9 That's when Balvant started his own company called Parekh Dyechem Industries where he decided to use synthetic resin to make glue and invented our first Swadeshi Vegetarian Glue "Fevicol".
6/9 The name “Fevicol” is a mix of “Fedco” (the then German company where Balvant Parekh learnt the business) and the German word “Col”, which means anything that bonds two things.
It has also drawn inspiration from the German adhesive “Movicol”.
7/9 In no time, Fevicol became famous among carpenters and later, the company also expanded its retail business by targeting the art and craft market and introducing small packages.
8/9 The initial Parekh Dyechem Industries changed its name to Parekh Dyechem Lite Industries, then to P.D. Lite Industries and finally to the current name- Pidilite Industries.
