There are so many people in this world.

But in our life we meet only a handful of them and we meet them for a purpose.

So be thankful and be sincere when you relate closely with any individual.

A thread.

It was mid 2008 and I was quite ecstatic as I was joining college for MBBS course. I had prepared for one year for selection and it all seemed surreal. But the fact that I will be staying away from home was bringing occasional pain as well.

I got admission in Kottayam Medical College and planned to stay in a private PG facility near the college than the college hostel fearing ragging.I had a room which was three-sharing with a batchmate and a senior who was preparing for PG entrance exam.

(3/n)
Kottayam was a hub of PG entrance coaching for medical graduates before DAMS, Marrow and Prep Ladder took over. So there was a group of 10 staying preparing for entrance exams in the same PG facility with us. They were from Father Muller Medical College.

The senior who was my roommate happened to be the elder brother of a batchmate in school and we bonded well. He had given me so many advises regarding college life as I listened intently.

After 2 weeks in Kottayam I realised that I had this opportunity to join JIPMER and had moved to Pondicherry. I said goodbye to my batchmates and roommates and moved on. But I had kept in touch with this senior who was my batchmate’s elder brother.

Years passed and I graduated, joined ARMY, finished my tenure and was wondering what next and started considering #PLAB as a pathway to the UK. I was searching for like minded people and found a bunch of helpful people online and started communicating to them personally.

(7/n)
I have joined an online academy as part of my #PLAB2 preparation and found a guy whose name suggested that he is a Malayali. I texted him and got his number to keep in touch. We had very formal conversation about exams once.

(8/n)
Recently I found that the same guy posted in a Facebook group regarding his success in #PLAB2 exam. I looked at his profile and found that the senior who was my roommate in Kottayam is a mutual friend of us.

(9/n)
I texted him again and asked how he knew this senior of mine and found that they were roommates in college. It was a total surprise to find that this individual who cleared #PLAB2 now was also there in the same PG faculty when I joined MBBS in Kottayam Medical College.

We have never spoken back then or knew each other’s names I n 2008 and finding out that we had such a connection was quite unlikely. But as I found this out, I am so happy to reminisce about the good old days.

In life we meet a handful of people at various phases of life and I believe that we meet them for a purpose. I am so excited to meet him in person and embark on this journey of working in a foreign country in the same organisation.
