🧵 THREAD: Joe and Kamala aren't the only members of the Biden administration who enable and empower racist cops.
Here's a brief look at Pete Buttigieg's similarly terrible track record on policing - it's even worse than you might think. 1/13
After Mayor Pete lied about demoting South Bend’s first black police chief for exposing racism in the force, he fired those calling for an investigation.
Buttigieg's inner circle then loaned money to the racist cops while the black folks they arrested remained in jail. 2/13
One of the racist cops w/ a history of fireable offenses that Mayor Pete let stay on the force without a body cam then shot and killed an elderly black man.
Buttigieg spoke to media before the victim’s family and gave a speech to police instead of attending the vigil. 3/13
Mayor Pete refused to fire the racist cops who 1) posted video of themselves torturing a disabled man and 2) beat and tased an innocent black teen after breaking into his house.
The family received an insulting $18 in compensation. 4/13
Mayor Pete said he had "a lot of concerns" about mandating body cameras and did nothing when South Bend cops turned theirs off before pretending to be KKK members while arresting a black man. 5/13
After Mayor Pete's racist cops refused to examine the apparent lynching of a black teen, the boy's mother begged Buttigieg to investigate.
He ignored her cries for help. 6/13
When a South Bend cop began selling shirts mocking Eric Garner's "I can't breathe" quote, Mayor Pete defended it as a statement about police safety.
When his city council demanded the sales be stopped, Buttigieg defended the racist vendor's "free speech." 7/13
Buttigieg responded to the outrage over his mishandling of police racism by saying "all lives matter." 8/13
Buttigieg also stood alone in supporting the Jim Crow laws specifically enacted to suppress black voting rights with incarceration. 9/13
Mayor Pete also doubled South Bend's eviction rate, sending cops to push 3x more (disproportionately black) people out of their homes than the national average. 10/13
Instead of working to decrease police brutality, Mayor Pete wanted cops to emulate Israeli occupation forces that regularly massacre civilians, just like the Memphis police department that murdered Tyre Nichols was trained to do. 11/13
South Bend had to pay a shocking $1,300,000 in settlements over police misconduct just in Mayor Pete's first term alone.
Meanwhile, half of the city's nonwhite cops left the force due to the racism they experienced under Buttigieg. 12/13
As racial disparities in Mayor Pete's police force rose ~40% higher than the national average, Black Lives Matter demanded he resign.
Instead, he failed up, running for president before endorsing Biden in exchange for the bribe of yet another job he's unqualified to hold. 13/13

🧵 THREAD: Here are just a few of the many ways Kamala Harris has enabled and exacerbated police brutality during her career as "Top Cop." 1/11
Aside from ramping up police encounters in the first place by opposing marijuana legalization, etc., Kamala specifically opposed independently investigating police murders and the statewide implementation of body cameras. 2/11
Civil rights groups sounded the alarm from the beginning, but their pleas for improved accountability were repeatedly ignored. 3/11
THREAD: Today marks 200 days since Biden became President. Here is every promise he has broken so far. 1/
Biden promised he would send a third stimulus check equal to $2,000.
Instead, he only sent $1,400, and to 17 million fewer Americans than received Trump's relief. 2/
Biden promised to partially forgive student debt.
Instead, he defended Betsy DeVos in court against forgiving loans for students she cheated. He did cancel $3 billion total, but let the overall debt increase by another ~$40 billion in that same time. 3/
You can argue his presidency’s the “less evil” thus far, but “Biden is even worse than Trump” should not be a controversial statement.
Biden has literally bombed, jailed, and deported hundreds of thousands more people than Trump in his career. It’s just a fact.
This tweet might hold our record for the most Biden Bros telling on themselves in the replies.
If your political engagement consists entirely of following Brooklyn Dad since 2016, just say that!
THREAD: I’m seeing requests to elaborate on the fact that Biden has bombed, jailed, and deported more people than Trump in his career, so here is a very brief overview.
For #MemorialDay, here is short thread summarizing Biden's shameful legacy of sending soldiers to needlessly kill and be killed for US imperialism, oil, and arms profits. 1/
Biden openly admits to lying Congress and the public into supporting the illegal and disastrous invasion of Iraq. (Credit: @yo2bernie) 2/
Biden was instrumental in drumming up Democratic support for Bush's wars, even going so far as to claim he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for starting them. 3/
Today is Joe Biden's 100th day as President with a majority in both the House and Senate.
Here is the most comprehensive thread on how, like Trump, he has failed us thus far. ⤵️ 1/
Despite being dragged into office on the back of last summer's protests led by black activists, Biden has largely ignored #BlackLivesMatter and their policy demands since their inauguration. 2/
Biden, who oversaw the militarization of our police as VP, promised very minor reform by executive order in week one. It never came.
Instead, he's now transferring even more weapons to cops at a faster rate than Trump had been. 3/
