Unlike today, when journalists are speculating on Adani being "targeted", to emerge unscathed soon. 92 scam led to Mehta being treated like a criminal, investigated & arrested by CBI. 70+ offences, with over 600 civil suits, eventually killing him less than a decade later ! 2/6
Journalists speculating about how @narendramodi is being targeted today, brayed for then congress PM Narasimha Rao's blood & @PChidambaram_IN's resignation ! Banks today are as actively involved as they were then. Big difference is that all names were out in the open then ! 3/6
Vijaya Bank's chief committed suicide. RBI governor Venkataraman was held guilty. Today jlists are reluctant to call out the SBI chief manager & LIC chairman for involvement in Adani scam. Modi & @nsitharamanoffc are floating in a parallel universe, where scams don't exist! 4/6
Mehta died a miserable death.His family, especially his wife,brothers & children were ostracized. None came to their defense, certainly not the cong govt, trying to protect itself from accusations all around. Adani today can afford to hide himself wrapped in the national flag 5/6
Bcoz neither the govt, nor the media, leave alone the CBI has branded him as a criminal yet. giving him enough time to fix the scam, which is a 1000 times worse than the 1992 securities scam ! Hurt investors are yet to open up, despite the blood bath !6/6
