THREAD
Y/day, the regime thru its PM, @RobinahNabbanja attempted to smuggle into Parliament a statement on the continued abductions, detention incommunicado & other forms of rights violations - agst the agreed position that this was to be joint statement...
... the statement was to be jointly drafted by our team and the government side. We rejected her schemes, and the day's presiding officer, @Thomas_Tayebwa, agreed with us that the statement was deferred. We had perused through what she had prepared... 2/
... she had unashamedly accounting for only 5 of the 25 names on the list we previously presented to them. We then registered another case of extrajudicial killing! 75-year-old Costa Muhonja was picked by the state's operatives from Kasese on January 5... 3
... transferred to Masaka later to Sembabule & finally ended up at a detention facility at Kireka. For this entire time, they saw no reason for informing his family as to why they had arrested him and where he had been detained. 4/
After 2 weeks of torture, Mzee Muhonja succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him. His body was dumped at the KCCA mortuary on January 19th. Eight days later, the body was disposed off in the KCCA cemetery. I delegated our Ministers; Hon Jonathan Odur (Defence)... 5/
... Hon Abdallah Kiwanuka (Internal Affairs) and Hon Atkins Katusabe (Public Service) to address the press and make our position very clear to the country. 6/6 #AccountabilityAndService#EndTorturesInUganda

I convened an impromptu meeting of the Opposition Caucus following irregular passing of the controversial motion for Gov't to acquire shares in Roko Construction Company Ltd. The previous evening, we brought to light everything bad about the plan and the matter was stood over 1/
Shockingly, the speaker who was in chair this afternoon blatantly abused the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure and smuggled the matter onto the Order Paper, playing the roles of Finance Minister, Chairperson of the Finance Committee and at the same time, Speaker! 2/
As representatives of the people, we are not going to let this scandal to go unchallenged. We will announce our next steps in the coming days. #AccountabilityAndService
Pursuant to Rule 53 of our Rules of Procedure, I seize the opportunity to respond to the State of the Nation Address delivered by the President on June 4. #SOTN2021#AccountabilityAndService
While the Article 101 of the Constitution doesn't prescribe the content of the Address, it is expected that President would use it as a performance report card of what has been undertaken by government since the last address. Unfortunately, this has never been the case. #SOTN2021
Specifically Objective I(ii) requires the President to report at least once a year the extent of realization of the policy objectives and principles. The provision does not deter the State of the Nation Address from being used as the reporting mechanism. #AccountabilityAndService
