Know what the Union Budget has got for Dalits in the FY 2023-2024.

There has been a total allocation of Rs. 159126.22 Crores for Dalits out of the total UB amounting to Rs. 4990842 Crores. Dalit budget makes it to just 3.1%

#UnionBudget2023 #DalitBudget #ScheduledCasteBudget
Department of Health & Family Welfare gets an allocation of Rs. 9323.81 Crores. It's well known to everyone how much health benefit Dalits get in this country yet such a huge amount gets snatched away from the budget for our development. Shame.
Government won't pave way for dalit doctors and the UC doctors will turn away dalit people from PHC and hospitals yet shamelessly use Rs. 1079 Crores for Human Resources for Health and Medical Education.
No housing schemes for Dalits, neither rural not urban yet Rs. 4162.01 Crores get diverted from Dalit Budget towards the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affair.
Looks like pollution control is also solely a Dalit problem and only Dalit people can solve it because there has been an allocation of Rs. 60 Crores towards it.
Saving Elephants, Tigers and Development of Wildlife Habitats is also a Dalit specific, a targeted goal for the Dalits as per the government.
Along with all the wildlife, animal protection, pollution control etc government also thinks that it's okay to use an amount of Rs. 25 Crores for projects on Cyber Security.
All the promotion that UC's gonna see for Digital Payments will be done through the Dalit Budget. An amount or Rs. 79.54 Crores will be used for promotion of "Digital Payment".
Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation has been allocating huge amounts consistently over years. This year's allocation is Rs. 16754.90 Crores however, the scheme is failing terribly in all forms. Dalit people & children are killed for drinking water and touching a public tap.
Jal Jeevan Mission has a diverted allocation if Rs. 15400 Crores. This very "jal" brings death to hundreds of our people every year. Such schemes have been a total failure.
Humongous amount of Rs. 1354.90 Crores gies straight to the Swach Bharat Mission- Rural.
An amount of Rs. 3184.96 Crores goes into providing Employees Pension, 1955, Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension and the Indira Gandhi Widow Pension.
For overall employment generation there is an allocation of Rs. 693.20 Crores. On contrary a mere amount of Rs. 15 Crores is allocated for coaching & guidance for the Dalit students.
An amount of Rs. 100 Crores was allocated for the National Scheduled Castes-Scheduled Tribes Hub Center. Half of this amount remained unspent. This year's allocation is of Rs. 60 Crores.
An unnecessary allocation of Rs. 35.24 Crores has been made from the Dalit Budget this year towards the Geological Survey of India and Rs. 130 Crores towards Programme Component for Wind Power Grid.
There is a widespread discrimination and bias against the Dalits in the Public Distribution Scheme. Nevertheless huge amount of money (Rs. 18693.48 Crores)is allocated towards the Department of Food and Public distribution. Most of the Dalit people can not access PDS.
Is PM Research Fellowship exclusively reseved for the Dalits? If not then why an amount of Rs. 72 Crores has been allocated for it from the Dalit Budget? World Class Institutions for whom?- An allocation of Rs. 295 Crores from the Dalit Budget. #ScamAlert
UGC gets an allocation of Rs. 890 Crores from #DalitBudget, just don't know why and for whom?
There is a separate component budget for the Scheduled Tribes & the North East Region of India yet an amount of Rs. 488 Crores has been diverted from the #DalitBudget to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.
Let's look at the relevant schemes for dalits and allocation under those. The allocation for the LPG connection to poor is ZERO this year whereas it was Rs. 70 Crores last year.
Under the Direct Benifit Transfer- LPG the allocation last year was Rs. 332 crores out of which only Rs. 14.94 was spent. This year the allocation is of Rs. Just 14.94 Crores. This is a massive cut.
The allocation for the Department of Social Justice & Welfare amounts to Rs. 10160.94 Crores. Post-Matric and Pre-matric scholarship for SC's amounts to Rs. 6359.74 & Rs. 500 Crores respectively. This is an under allocation keeping in mind the number of Dalit students.
Horrendous allocation: National Safai karamchari Finance & Development Corporation has an allocation of Rs. 25 crores in the last FY out of which only Ra. 0.01 crores was spent. Allocation for this FY is Rs. 10 Crores.
Looks like the entire responsibility to save the environment, forest & climate change is a Dalit onus. An amount of 153.50 Crores has been diverted from the Dalit Budget to the Ministry of Environment.
The backlog of reserved seat in IIT, IIM & NIT is widely reported. Every year we have cases of discrimination as well as cases of institutional murders yet an amount of 932 Crores have been allocated to these institutions from Dalit Budget.
#UnionBudget2023 #DalitBudget
In last FY there was an allocation of Rs. 70 Crores under the Self-Employment Scheme for Rehabilitation of Manual Scavengers. However, this year there is ZERo allocation under this scheme. This is so atrocious. #DalitBudget #UnionBudget2023
Insufficient allocation of mere Rs. 500 Crores has been made towards the Strengthening of Machinery for the Enforcement of the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 & The Scheduled Castes-Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Failing to understand why government is resistant in curating a separate budget component for people with disabilities. An amount of Rs. 112.88 Crores has been allocated under the Department of Empowerment of persons with Disabilities.
All the UC Disability Rights Activists who keep ignoring the caste as a relevant factor even within the discourse on disability should keep in mind that Rs. 24.90 Crores has been allocated for the Scheme for Implementation of Persons with Disability act from the #DalitBudget
Ministry of Women & Child Development keeps denying existence of caste, regularly advocates that a rape is a rape and caste has nothing to do with it. Yet they, without any hesitation accepts huge allocation of funds from Dalit Budget. @MinistryWCD
Ministry of Women & Child Development has been allocated a huge amount of Rs. 4623.54 & Rs. 4740.48 Crores in the year 2022 & 2023 respectively. It's time to cater to Dalit women & children in a targetted way without any denying caste biases among women & children. @MinistryWCD
Mission Shakti of @MinistryWCD gets an additional allocation of Rs. 297.52 Crores from #DalitBudget #UnionBudget2023
Saksham, Anganwadi, POSHAN schemes get an amount of Rs. 4740.480 Crores from #DalitBudget
Dalit men and women do not have access to rich fabrics like silk however an amount of Rs 118 Crores and Rs. 50 Crores have been allocated to the Ministry of Textile and Central Silk Board @ respectively from #DalitBudget. @TexMinIndia @DCtrti #UnionBudget2023

Suspend and Disband the Committee for Reforms in Criminal Laws with immediate effect and ensure that any subsequent reform process complies with national and international best practices so as to further our constitutional goals of justice, equality and liberty. @citizensspeakup
Main concerns are:
1. COMPREHENSIVE LEGAL REFORM CANNOT BE UNDERTAKEN WHILE THE COUNTRY IS IN THE GRIP OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
@P39A_nlud @citizensspeakup
2. MANDATE OF THE COMMITTEE AND LACK OF TRANSPARENCY:
The Committee has failed to publish its Terms of Reference. Unlike other law reform bodies, the Committee has not revealed what consultation, research and analysis precedes and underpins its six consultative questionnaires.
