[thread] for both those wish to leave the
#ECHR AND remain in #ECHR

I dedicate this thread to @JackieDP

Now on the "willy waving" of @10DowningSt @RishiSunak

Why you wave it
How you wave it
When you wave it
Where you wave it
What you are waving

All matter
So the reason I say that is you go to the Rishi Sunak words of :

Rishi Sunak is prepared to take Britain out of the ECHR

Rishi Sunak might even consider leaving the ECHR

and this below from the Liasion Committee on 20/12/2022
there's also video from that committee session

So if you are admitting that leaving the ECHR has no bearing on fixing a problem

Why are you saying you "might" consider it?

And when you say you are "prepared" to leave it - can you show us what preparations you have for the consequences of the UK withdrawing from the #ECHR ?
Should be easy @RishiSunak

After all your party has a reputation for preparedness

e.g.

brexit plan written by Boris Johnson and Michael Gove

brexit impact assessments under Theresa May / David Davis

the many solutions to the NI Border Vote Leave said they had

social care
I want to focus on the ambivalence

You see I would be ok with a party that was clear in its manifesto, in an election that it wanted to leave the #ECHR

And about how it planned for the consequences of doing so

Instead....

We shall focus on the questions already asked
Why you wave it
How you wave it
When you wave it
Where you wave it
What you are waving
1. Why you wave it

Because you are desperate

You have to weaponise the topic of refugees to provide you some succour at the ballot box

To fend off UKIP/Reform

To feed the right wing Mail/Express/Scum press

But also to provide clear blue water between you and Labour
2. How you wave it

You alternate between hollow phrases or being prepared or we might and kick the actual execution into the long grass

You have a majority

If you want to leave the ECHR and believe it is justified

Get on and fucking do it
3. How you wave it

Well that is the what the drip feed of these stories are about

after all got to do everything we can to try to get Nadhim, Tory finances, Boris or Liz out of the news as much as possible
4. Where you wave it

Again

Its useful at PMQs , its useful when pandering to some of your more extreme lying racist MPs or when you are pandering to doing personal op-eds in the Scum/Express/Mail
5. What you are waving

You are literally using one of the great post war legal achievements of the United Kingdom

And using it as a weapon to peddle your BS with with electoral calculations

Have you no shame Rishi?

Is there nothing you will not weaponise for self and career?
here's a thread on how respond to questions

Note: i used the word response and not answer

So let's get back to the #ECHR

My question is how do Labour or any opposition party tackle you on your willy waving

And I came up with a simple idea
Using an opposition day debate

With the below:
You see whether you want to leave the ECHR or remain in the ECHR

The opposition day debate will provide @10DowningSt @RishiSunak with the opportunity to clearly present the preparations he has made on the matter

Since he works night & day should be easy to provide those plans
Before I finish I also want to touch on this from @JackieDP

"Upholding the law should never be a matter for debate for a Conservative."

see also:

in a very specified and limited way

oh and also
Here's also a thread

Where I get to use two songs from Gerry Rafferty and Paul McCartney

With a focus on Josephine

And breaking the law

You will note - in my thread above

I did not debate the merits of leaving or remaining in the #ECHR

I have already done that in this thread

I would like to dedicate this thread to @GiftCee and @DanielaNadj

I want to talk about @10DowningStreet @RishiSunak

And I want to talk about #Australia

And a quote

“F--- me,” the text read. “How good is optimism?” ImageImageImage
Now I am not going to insult @GiftCee

Usually when I quote him evidence and facts

He usually alternates between

Ignoring them

Or

Insulting me and calling me an idiot

Or

Insulting me and questioning my mental health

e.g. like the facts below: Image
In a way

At least he's not telling me to go away and read the Kallergi conspiracy

I miss the days where brexiteers did that

"Shut your eyes. Hold your breath. Think of Ukraine. Think of the rest of the EU. Think of the future. Think of the desire of your children & grandchildren to live and work in other European countries; to sell things there, to make friends & perhaps find partners there."
"Ukraine is a great nation, a global force for good. It is surely a boon for the world and for Europe that she should be intimately engaged in the EU. This is a market on our doorstep the membership fee seems rather small for all that access."

This is the *best* Iain could come up with

And I pity him

He should turn off Twitter for 50 years until the uplands arrive

So let's start at the beginning
"Despite all this wailing, Brexit is for the best"

Who is wailing?

Boris Johnson promised a period of reflection

Why should we not reflect on the words and actions of the Leave campaigns?
After all as Lincoln said

“I should regret to see the day in which the people should cease to express intelligent, honest generous criticism upon the policy of their rulers.”

Why is Iain afraid?

A short story to commemorate the 31st January 2020
I would like to dedicate this short story to one man

The man who reigned supreme as our blessed People's Prime Minister

The man who got brexit done

The man who got all the big calls right

The King of the World @BorisJohnson
So my short story title

was as a homage to @BorisJohnson 's seminal work

(He does a lot of work involving semen but let's not touch on his technology lessons or his oral interviews for a chief of staff)

[thread] from 18/1/23 at #PMQs

Q. It is three minutes past 12. If somebody phones 999 now because they have chest pains and fear it might be a heart attack, when would the Prime Minister expect an ambulance to arrive?

A. Cross your fingers
Q. for a person suffering chest pains, the clock starts ticking straightaway—every minute counts. That is why the Government say an ambulance should be there in 18 minutes..... I will ask him again. When will that ambulance arrive?

A. Cross your fingers
Q. If they were in Northampton it would be 20 minutes, Plymouth 40 minutes. That is not the worst-case scenario; it is just the average ..will he stop blaming others, take some responsibility & just admit that the NHS is in crisis, isn’t it?

A. Cross your fingers

I will start with the words of Maya Angelou
Those words taken from a chat between a poet and a comedian

And now to quote from the below

Its closing warning

" Many, many times since it all happened I have pondered that pair of great maxims, Principiis obsta and Finem respice—‘Resist the beginnings’ and ‘Consider the end.’ "
