I just need to again remind everyone 'on our side' who is making this arbitrary distinctions of which crips they are ok with killing, that I fit the 2016 definition of my end of life being reasonably foreseeable (according to doctors) in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2015... #MAID
I know what matters more to you is appearing "reasonable" and not being accused of being 'radical' but if you write or speak as if 'terminal' is a magic science word of certainty I know we aren't actually on the same side.
There are some conditions they have more accuracy predicting prognosis of but the law - and your articles and tweets - don't make distinction of which conditions. And reasonably foreseeable is deliberately confusing but terminal is also subject to different definitions as well.
Every time use terminal to mean the folks that you are prepared to let be killable, you are normalizing this. I wish to gawd you'd stop.

According to the Vancouver YIMBY who is among the most annoying of them all, gentrification is when people build SFH which is fascinating to me for so many reason. 1. Who the f is building SFH in downtown Vancouver? 2. The $20 mil condo that took out the $800/month apps was not
Like YIMBYS have conveniently made SFH the big bad wolf of housing crisis. But literally no one is tearing down the lower rent apts in my neighbourhood to build SFHs. They are building condos with private garages bigger than a one bedroom apt.
I grew up in working class area in another part of the country but I find it fascinating that you all think McMansion when you hear SFH. I think of tiny 1 bath, 2 bed bungalows mixed in on streets with low-rise apts.
Someone I know just had major surgery for serious dx and after one (maybe two?) days their pain medications were switched to T3s.
So driven about 'caring' about preventing addiction that they do not care about torturing people. Doesn't seem moral or ethical to me.
I can't tell you how much this terrifies me. If you have ever experienced severe acute physical pain - which I have - the idea of being denied medications that would alleviate it terrifies me. This is not rational medicine. And mark my words, it will drive more people to illicit
the more we go down this road. people will be more likely to hoard and share meds. people are going to be stockpiling for just in case one day they are in pain, knowing they'll be denied access to pain meds. it's so over the top moral panic at this point - among the physicians.
People replying repeating DWD lie so let me again clarify. 1. People with mental illness currently can & do access MAiD. 2. You're being played by DWD. You aren't having your rights denied if you aren't in front of firing squad. the people in front are. Fight to repeal C7 MAID
There's some serious wag the dog shit going on and it has been going on for a long time and it's really frustrating to watch.
Like any 'good' strategists they studied their opponents - us - and they are constructing a framework to hit certain buttons. Stop falling for it.
At moment they are trying to go hit the button where people with mental illness feel their conditions aren't taken as seriously as those with physical illness. They know this is a thing & they are using it to manipulate some of you. Don't let them do this.
First I want to say that absolutely no one can call me an alarmist about this. I have proceeded with considerable caution on this topic because an increase in organ donation could reasonably be expected with planned deaths. That said, it's not that I don't have concerns.
Unlike most any of the people commenting on this issue I have actually been at the point where I believed my death was reasonably foreseeable and that nothing could be done to prevent it. I believed that bc that is what I was told & that is how I felt.
