The Cuban government has asked drivers of official state vehicles to pick up people at bus stops. The decision comes after half of the public transport fleet stopped working due to the shortage of diesel oil in the country. Those who fail to comply with the measure may pay a fine
On Twitter, the Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, who instructed the Minister of Transport “to organize the correct application of the measure” that Cruz considers “essential” amid the “complex situation that our country is experiencing”.
Thus, all cars linked to the government will have to transport the population. Cruz also said that “servants of all hierarchical levels” must ensure compliance with the measure. If the guideline is not followed, “the infraction will be considered serious”.
Cuba has been facing a diesel/oil crisis since the beginning of last year.

Benavidez is one of ten priests accused in Nicaragua, including Bishop Rolando José Álvarez Lagos, kidnapped by police agents on August 19, along with four other priests, already convicted, from the episcopal palace of the diocese of Matagalpa after 15 years of confinement.
