Since the '70s, the federal government started backing from their 50:50 arrangement with the provinces to fund Medicare. They've lost the moral authority to direct the provinces on how to deliver healthcare. #skpoli
The bottom line is I think we are on our own in our provinces to figure out the best way to deliver healthcare to our fellow citizens.
Unfortunately, as we know all too well in Saskatchewan, majority support is no guarantee of good policy.

"Skyfall" is a Russian nuclear powered cruise missile than can stay airborne for days, navigate and hunt. A nuclear explosion at a missile test site in 2019 is thought to be an accident involving a Skyfall device. It released a significant amount of radiation into the atmosphere.
I don't remember hearing about this incident, but caught a documentary episode on the Smithsonian channel last night that reported it.
We are necessarily having to reconsider our diplomatic and military stance vis a vis Russia in the face of Putin's irredentism that he claims justifies the invasion of Ukraine, a country that declared its independence from the failed Soviet Union in 1991.

Not surprising to me...it's consistent with the start of the new long wave of economic activity. You can pick 1950 as the start of the last one, and it too had a shocking spike in inflation before settling down to a more gradual upward trend that peaked with the crisis of 1980 —
...the first half of the long wave that Kondratiev observed in capitalist economies. It's a good news story as Kondratiev, in his 1927 paper, also indicates that social behaviour is influenced heavily by the nature of the economy at any particular point on the wave.
As I tell my kids who were born in the early '90s, their total life experience was on the downside of the wave which predictably ended with a prolonged global deflationary depression. They are young enough to expect a good run from here on in.

The upward trend in the global export of goods, services and finance is predicated on international regimes of cooperation...multilateral trade agreements being one.
Last year Saskatchewan sold last over $3.6 billion of agricultural products to China, a signatory to the Paris Agreement to limit CO2 emissions from burning hydrocarbons.
Proportionate to their population and manufacturing output, China is farther advanced in the energy transition than North America. I would surmise their commitment to it is largely based on a desire to dominate new and growing markets for "clean tech".

Private, market based health services are integrated to one degree or another in every universal health care system in Europe.
There are plenty of hybrid models to look at before assuming that the only available alternative to the Canada Health Act is a purely private American style health system.
To restore the standard of care demanded by Canadians to the letter of the current law would require a hefty increase in taxes — the largest cohort in our population is heading into senescence when medical costs are highest.

"Assemble Together for the Holidays" the message from Ikea Canada, which we do as families at Christmas time in our own ways. American broadcast media doesn't celebrate the cultures that make up their population; not like the cultural mosaic that famously makes up our identity.
So far, it has worked out well in a stable, accommodative polity, but those assumptions are being challenged from different angles...not just from cultural, racial points of view, but generational as well.
Numerous surveys have polled Canadians to define what it means to be Canadian, and every time Medicare is cited as the best descriptor. It was held up to the world as beacon to how ethically evolved we were.
