1/7 #NordstreamSabotage pipelines was an amateurish operation. There are four pipelines, two in each of Nord Stream 1 & #NordStream2. The saboteurs breached the pipelines in four places, likely intending to damage all four lines.
2/7 Instead, they breached the same NS-2 pipeline twice, leaving one NS-2 pipeline intact.
The explosions at less than 100 m depth caused small earthquakes. The estimate is that hundreds kilograms of explosives haves been used in each of them (CNBC). cnbc.com/2022/10/06/nor…
3/7 The saboteurs could have dropped timed explosive devices near the pipelines, possibly pulling them closer from a boat. Underwater camera and light would have helped.
A more sophisticated culprit could have broken the pipelines silently.
4/7 The words of Joe Biden do not count because he is a senile old man.
When Nuland threatened to stop the NS-2 in case of the war, she meant stopping by sanctions. At the time of the sabotage, NS-2 was already stopped – Germany had refused to certify it.
5/7 I was wrong to call #SeymourHersh a “career liar”. He was a decent investigative reporter in 1960-70’s & became famous for exposing the My Lai massacre. But he didi not derserve that credit. The commander of the responsible unit was already in prison.
6/7 Somebody passed the story to Hersh.
On his own, Seymour Hersh tried, but was unable to re-create this success, so he succumbed to his dark side.
7/7 #SeymourHersh self-publishing on Substack is a self-refutation. Some great men & women publish on @SubstackInc because of the current media state. But all the media doors are open to Hersh.
He resorted to blogging because his fiction cannot pass any editor. BTW, he is 86.
Today, one does not need to send divers down to sabotage a pipeline. There are remotely controlled maniputors. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
@PlaysTrumpCard@usairforce can take down the chinese balloon by flying over it F-15 dispersing infrared chaff (most types of it). It will melt and burn holes in the thin plastic envelope.
The payload will land slowly, because the envelope will act as a parachute. No risk. cc @JMichaelWaller
